The weatherman will appear on the revamped skating contest which will air sometime next year
GOOD Morning Britain's Alex Beresford stunned fans by revealing he has more than 100 cousins and 26 uncles and aunts – before refusing to confirm the start date for Dancing On Ice.
The weatherman will battle it out on ITV's newly-revamped series, alongside stars including Bucks Fizz singer Cheryl Baker and Coronation Street's Brooke Vincent.
While he remained coy about his latest project, he left viewers gobsmacked after revealing his granddad had a huge brood of 27 kids.
Referencing GMB guest The Sperminator, who believes it is his role to get females pregnant, he confessed his family secret and added: "Through the traditional way he had 19 children with his first wife and the others with my grandmother.
"If my grandfather was alive, we should have got him on."
Show anchor Piers Morgan quizzed: "Hang on a minute, how many Beresfords are there?" to which he replied: "There are loads.
"I think I've got over 100 first cousins because my dad is the only one who had me and my brother – the rest of my dad's brothers and sisters had three, four and five children."
He then joked they "didn't have TV" back in the day in Ghana, where his granddad was born.
Clearly shocked, 52-year-old Piers said: "27 children, I thought I was doing well with four!"
Meanwhile Piers – who has a frosty relationship with the forecaster – joked the dad-of-one would be "dumped" out of the skating show after three weeks.
Susanna Reid then asked him about when he would star on the programme, which will again be presented by returning hosts Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield, to which Alex admitted: "I am not allowed to say.
"The date's not been officially …
"It's not that far away – it's in the New Year anyway."
Alex joked to Piers: "Can I count on your support?" to which the ex newspaper journalist quipped he thought the more he told viewers to "abuse" Alex on social media, the better he would fare.
Those at home took to Twitter in surprise with one writing: "@alexberesfordTV #jawdropped #27children."
Another posted: "Wow Alex! What a revelation! 27 kids from your grandfather! Wow! Talk about go, go, go. Wow," as another pleaded: "Jeez, leave the weatherman alone Piers!"
Yesterday, we reported how cheeky Alex had SHAMED Piers for his skating skills after the presenter had blasted his colleague as "incompetent."
Yet Alex got his own back for the catty comment when he introduced a series of snaps showing Piers struggling to stay upright on a rink.
The images were taken at London's Somerset House and showed the 52-year-old decked out in a wool hat and clinging onto a barrier as he tentatively made his way around.
He was urged on as a supportive assistant looked absolutely terrified to be let loose on the ice.
