VALENCIA boss Marcelino was in a terrifying Spanish car smash after colliding with a wild pig on a motorway.
The La Liga coach was travelling with his wife and 81-year-old mum when a wild boar dashed in the way of their BMW, sending the family tumbling down a hillside.
Firefighters apparently cut the elderly Mrs Marcelino out of the back seat of the wreckage and reports vary on her recovering at home or hospital.
Marcelino and his wife were discharged after the Saturday night crash while the boar died instantly on impact.
Marcelino's son Sergio Garcia confirmed all three had pulled through and were recuperating together over the rest of the Christmas break.
He said: “It was a pretty big scare. They're out of danger and we are planning on spending the Christmas period in Gijon”.
Valencia – currently flying high in third thanks to Marcelino’s tactics – thanked the local services for their help over the festive season.
A statement read: “Valencia Football Club's manager wants to publicly thanks the doctors and staff at San Pedro Hospital in Logrono for the treatment and affection he and his family received during their stay.
“He also wants to thank Civil Guard traffic police, Logrono firefighters and the motorway assistance service for their speed and efficiency after the accident caused by his car hitting a wild boar.”
Wild boar in the area can weight up to 15 stone and are responsible for dozens of crashes a year.
