Jose Mourinho set to wield the axe on his Manchester United flops for FA Cup semi-final with Tottenham

Boss Mourinho was embarrassed by Manchester United’s 1-0 home defeat to rock-bottom West Brom that handed the title to rivals City.

Now he insists price, salary or reputation will not matter.

United visit Bournemouth tomorrow night but Saturday teatime’s Cup clash is at the forefront of his mind.

Mourinho said: “Some of the guys that played against West Brom don’t have a place in that team.

“If I play a player against Bournemouth and the player is phenomenal, he plays the semi-final.

“It is not rotating because rotating looks like a player who plays against Bournemouth is giving a rest to somebody that is going to play against Spurs in the semi-final.”

Mourinho was livid with the way his team threw away all the good vibes from the 3-2 derby comeback at City.

He added: “I only know one criteria for a manager to choose a team — the way they play.

“Or do you want me to go for the price they cost, their salary or their beautiful face . . .

“Consistency has nothing to do with age, it has to do with personality.”

That indicates Scott McTominay, 21, will get the nod while £89million record buy Paul Pogba, subbed against Albion, is likely to get a stay of execution.
