While Kevin Durant and Kendrick Perkins are no longer plying their trades on the same team, it seems they haven’t lost any of their camaraderie from their time in Oklahoma City.
Video emerged Thursday afternoon of a bizarre exchange between the former Thunder teammates, as Durant can be seen on the podium mouthing what appears to be “f–k you” to Perkins as the big man apparently walked by. According to The Athletic, Perkins, out of the camera shot, had walked by brandishing two middle fingers.
What to most appears hostile, to them was apparently cordial behavior. Maybe that’s how these old friends address each other.
“Always good be around Perk, especially in this environment when he’s at his best with his one-liners, antics,” Durant told The Athletic about the exchange. “I knew something was coming when he turned the corner. Didn’t know the double birds was coming. That’s Perk.”
Perkins spoke — in his own unique way — about Durant in the wake of his 43-point Game 3 performance.
“Man, KD,” he told ESPN. “I want to beat him, but he’s just a motherf—-r.”
Perkins isn’t the only Cavalier frustrated by the play of Durant, who’s averaging 31.6 points in the Finals.
Meanwhile, Perkins’ biggest contributions in the postseason have come with his mouth. He allegedly called Drake a “f–king p—y” during the Eastern Conference Finals, and offered a strange threat to Stephen Curry following their Game 2 confrontation.
