Girls were pitted against boys in a brand new live tournament based on Ant And Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway – involving testicles, pigs’ anuses and live snakes
TONIGHT ITV viewers were impressed by an I'm A Celeb extravaganza – a completely live Bushtucker Trial, pitting boys against girls – which was full of the most disgusting tasks.
The trial was based on Ant and Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway, and it saw Amir and Jennie having their heads stuck in a bubble full of bugs, and Iain passing animal testicles to Stanley using his mouth – after drinking a pigs' anus milkshake.
It also saw Amir almost refuse to take part in a task because it involved wearing a snake – one of his pet fears – round his neck.
The boys started out confidently after choosing Jamie and Dennis as their representatives, while the girls chose Shappi and Rebekah.
Back at camp Ant and Dec greeted the remaining camp mates and explained what was going to happen.
"We are gonna absolutely smash them!" yelled 77-year-old Stanley Johnson, who had finally been cleared for trials after being ruled out on health grounds.
As the games kicked off, comedian Iain Lee used the opportunity of a rare live appearance to make a joke by shouting: "Help they're holding us here with guns we can't leave!"
But soon things got very serious as the first task began, with Amir and Jennie placing their heads in domes filled with bugs.
As the creepy-crawlies explored his face, Amir correctly guessed when a minute had passed which gave the boys their first point.
And worse was to come – as eating trials and huge snakes were then introduced.
Iain and Kezia had to drink a milkshake made of pigs' anus, and thankfully for the lads Iain managed to chug his fastest.
Not only that, but current camp PM Stanley had to eat three dead witchetty grubs faster than Toff, and managed to do so.
Sadly, though, he faced the indignity of having bug juice dripping down his chin, which was pointed out by Ant.
Perhaps the funniest moment was when Amir Khan nigh on refused to have a snake slung over his shoulders as he and Vanessa stepped up for their task.
The pair had to retrieve a gold star from within a box without being attacked by a crab within as the snaked writhed round on their back – and luckily for Amir, he won again.
However, the climax of the trial tournament was by far the most revolting – and hilarious – moment of all.
Iain and Stanley had to pass kangaroo testicles between their mouths and place them in a bowl, with Toff and Jennie doing this for the girls' team.
All this meant that the boys won the tournament, and Dennis and Jamie will get a head start by helicopter in their epic battle against Rebekah and Shappi.
Viewers praised the live section, which went down a storm all round after a nerve-shredding prerecorded trial with Rebekah and Jamie earlier in the show.
I'm A Celeb continues at 9pm on ITV
