Black Cats striker almost fired Reading to the top flight last season
The striker, 29, has been allowed to leave Bournemouth and join Simon Grayson’s Black Cats.
Lewis Grabban has joined Sunderland on a season-long loan
The on-loan Bournemouth winger will look to guide the club back to the Premier League
And Grabban said: “The size of the club and its history attracted me, as well the manager.
“He told me what he wanted and what his ambitions were, and that’s why I’m here.
“It’s a great opportunity for me and hopefully I can do something special.”
The 29-year-old scored three times in 19 games while on loan at Championship play-off finalists Reading last season.
And he becomes Grayson’s fifth summer signing and Blackburn keeper Jason Steele is set to become his sixth.
The ex-Middlesbrough stopper, 26, had a medical on Wearside yesterday ahead of a £500,000 move.

Ross McCormack could be a Sunderland player by the end of the transfer window
Bury and Sunderland hold a minute’s applause for Bradley Lowery ahead of pre-season friendly match
Meanwhile Sunderland remain in talks to sign Aston Villa outcast Ross McCormack.
Grayson has the huge task of trying to replace Jermain Defoe’s goals and is hoping a fresh start for McCormack could rekindle his career.
The forward hit 42 goals in two seasons with Fulham following his move south from Leeds in 2014.
