West Brom striker Jay Rodriguez faces FA probe as Brighton’s Gaetan Bong accuses him of racism

JAY RODRIGUEZ faces an FA probe after Brighton’s Gaetan Bong accused him of racism.

The pair clashed during West Brom’s 2-0 win at The Hawthorns.

Baggies striker Rodriguez was seen pinching his nose before wafting a hand in front of his face.

TV replays appeared to show Cameroon defender Bong telling ref Martin Atkinson he had been subjected to racism.

And last night Bong tweeted: “Some words should not be said on a football field and specially not by players. Rodriguez words are unforgivable for the man I am!!”

SunSport understands Rodriguez vehemently denies any wrongdoing.

Albion boss Alan Pardew said: “There’s been an allegation made by the Brighton full-back to the referee and that will go to the FA.

“I’ve not seen the incident, but knowing Jay I find it very difficult to understand that there has been this allegation.”

Asked what was alleged to have been said, Pardew replied: “I don’t know, it’s been directed straight to the ref. Jay claims the allegation is untrue.”

Brighton boss Chris Hughton said: “Bong has reported Jay Rodriguez for something said to him.”
