7 Moments That Prove Even Fox News Is Fed Up With Donald Trump

Donald Trump may have a bit of an obsession with Fox News. It’s the only media channel he doesn’t deem as “fake,” and the network stars usually spend their time raving about the president.

However, signs are showing that even some of his favorite anchors are getting fed up with him. From Fox & Friends trying to literally hang up on the president (page 5) to Neil Cavuto listing off Trump’s blatant lies (page 7), these moments prove that even Fox News is growing tired of his nonsense.

Trump isn’t a stranger to lying on Twitter, but one claim was so blatantly false, even Fox News called him out. In February 2018, Trump tweeted, “Thank you for all of the nice compliments and reviews on the State of the Union speech. 45.6 million people watched, the highest number in history.”

Trump even complimented his favorite news network in the tweet, writing, “@FoxNews beat every other Network, for the first time ever, with 11.7 million people tuning in. Delivered from the heart!” However, that didn’t stop Fox News from pointing out his lies.

While, yes, the statistic of 45.6 million viewers was true, the claim that it was “the highest number in history” was not. The Fox News Research Twitter account showed the viewership numbers from a handful of years, proving George W. Bush’s 2003 speech was the true winner with 62 million viewers.

2. Chris Wallace calling Trump’s comments ‘dangerous’

Trump just can’t stop ranting about the “fake news” media. In February 2017, the president tweeted that the media was an “enemy of the American people.”

Fox News anchor Chris Wallace disagreed with Trump, claiming his “dangerous” comments “crossed an important line.”

3. Shep Smith pointing out Trump’s deflection

Every time Trump is asked about any possible collusion with Russia, he immediately deflects the conversation. Shep Smith, a Fox News anchor who has no problem with criticizing Trump on a regular basis, put the president on blast.

“It’s crazy what we’re watching every day,” Smith said. “It’s absolutely crazy. He keeps repeating ridiculous, throwaway lines that are not true at all and sort of avoiding this issue of Russia as if we’re some kind of fools for asking the question.”

In February 2018, Trump proposed the idea of bringing a military parade to Washington, D.C. However, citizens and members of the military weren’t keen on that idea — and neither was Shep Smith.

“He could go see the tanks at a military base if he wanted to,” Smith suggested. “Or they could give him replicas. Little mini replicas. I mean, he wants to see what he has. I had some of those when I was a kid.”

In April 2018, Trump phoned in to his pals on Fox & Friends. The hosts initially seemed delighted to chat with the president, but by the end of his incoherent ranting, they scrambled to get Trump off the line.

From admitting he didn’t get Melania anything for her birthday to rambling on about the Justice Department, Trump was clearly making the hosts uncomfortable. They repeatedly tried to cut in to hang up with the president, but Trump wouldn’t let up.

Eventually, one host insisted, “Mr. President, we could talk to you all day, but it looks like you have a million things to do.” As Trevor Noah pointed out on The Daily Show, “I can safely say that I’ve never seen a news anchor try to bail on an interview with the president of the United States.”

Fox News host Neil Cavuto has had enough of Trump. After the president tweeted an attack on the “fake media” in June 2017, Cavuto called him out.

“It’s not the fake news media that’s your problem, it’s you,” Cavuto criticized.

In a monologue that has since received tons of backlash from Trump supporters, Cavuto listed off a number of times Trump was clearly spewing off false information:

You didn’t know about the $130,000 payment to a porn star, until you did … the time you said the Russians didn’t interfere in the 2016 election, until a lot of Republicans had to remind you they did. You came back months later and you said, “Well, I never said that Russia didn’t meddle in the election,” when in fact you had — a lot … You claimed your tax plan was the biggest in U.S. history, when it wasn’t. Or that the bill you signed to make it all happen would cost you a fortune, when it turns out it is going to help you make a bigger fortune.

Cavuto is clearly fed up with the president’s track record of lies. If even Fox News anchors are calling B.S., that’s really not a good sign for Trump.
