Bake Off viewers devastated after finding out what has happened to fan favourite

The Great British Bake Off viewers were devastated tonight after it was announced that Terry was not taking part.

The 56-year-old retired air steward has been forced to pull out of Dessert Week due to sickness.

Sandi Toksvig and Noel Fielding broke the sad news to the rest of the competitors before the baking kicked off.

Presenter Sandi explained that with the other bakers had unanimously agreed he could return next week.

Terry, who won last week’s naan bread technical challenge, is best known for his fantastic moustache.

Terry’s most dramatic moments came in Biscuit Week in the first episode.

He suffered in the signature challenge when his chocolate lambs melted off the face of his biscuits.

His luck didn’t change in the technical when his marshmallows refused to cooperate and his wagon wheels were a flop.

Terry was left fearing for his place in week two but he pulled it out the bag in the Showstopper.

He put his face inside a fresh-from-the-oven sheet of brandy snap dough to create a 3D selfie.

His biscuit ‘selfie’ was a success and earned him a place in the next round.

In Cake Week, Terry baked a ‘beautiful’ rum and raisin tray bake in the signature but failed to impress in the technical.

As all his luck depended on the showstopper, he was hoping to impress Paul and Prue with his romantic themed champagne and strawberries flavoured cake with an Eiffel Tower chocolate collar.

However, the sweltering conditions in the tent left it a melting disaster and it ended up half finished.

Terry’s luck in the technical finally changed when he landed first place for baking the perfect naan bread .

However, when tasked to bake a Korovai in the showstopper, his bread was ‘underproved’ and just not good enough.
