Brendan Cole apologised for ‘career ending’ Strictly incident – but got no reply

Brendan Cole has revealed the reason his “cards were marked” and he was booted off Strictly Come Dancing – for mocking Shirley Ballas in her first week.

He admitted he made a mistake on BBC2 show It Takes Two with Zoe Ball, but said when he sent then new judge Shirley an apology, she never replied.

Zoe had asked if the dancers were desperate to impress the “megastar” queen of Latin.

He said: “I went, ‘I’d imagine she’s more likely to be wanting to impress us, I’ve been on the show 15 years, she’s just showed up’.

“Of course Shirley has seen it and gone ‘you little s***’.

“I knew the error of my ways as soon as I came off air.

“I sent her a message saying, ‘Didn’t mean any offence, just making good telly’. I didn’t get a reply.”

Brendan, 42, tells all in the new series of John Bishop: In Conversation With… on the W Channel on July 5.

Bishop said: “He is very open about his mistakes.”
