Celebrity Big Brother's Jess Impiazzi opens up about her struggles with depression on Loose Women

Celebrity Big Brother finalist Jess Impiazzi has opened up about her struggles with depression on Loose Women.

Jess has previously spoken about how she dropped out of theatre school to look after her mother Debbie after she lost her sight due to Uveal Effusion Syndrome, which followed the tragic death of her nephew at 13 months old from meningitis.

And she has now reflected on how it affected her, even leading her to consider suicide at one point.

“I got hit with depression, I didn’t know what it was at the time, but I dropped out of school,” Jess said on today’s show (March 7). “My favourite teacher said my light had gone out. When you’re feeling like that, you can’t sing and dance. I didn’t want to see anyone and I just wanted to hide all the time.”

She added that helping her mother after she lost her sight, including going to braille classes, saw her improve as she was watching her mum “go through something so difficult”.

“I went on anti-depressants and she was keeping me going as she needed me,” Jess continued. “I felt like I was a burden to everybody. I was so depressed.”

Jess’s mother Debbie was also in the audience and reflected that they “pulled each other up”, with Jess ending the interview by saying that while she will have a bad day, she knows “it’s not depression anymore”.

Loose Women airs weekdays at 12.30pm on ITV.
