Dani Dyer’s mum lied to Danny because she thought ‘nobody watches’ Love Island

Dani Dyer and her mum concocted lies to stop Danny from finding out his daughter would appear on Love Island .

Jo Mas admitted they tried to pull the wool over the EastEnders star’s eyes and pretend Dani was going on holiday.

She told Dani she would "probably get kicked out in a week" and to consider the trip as "backpacking in the villa".

Speaking on This Morning, Jo said she thought Danny wouldn’t realise his daughter was on the ITV2 dating show because "nobody watches".

Over 3 million have been tuning into the show every night and Dani’s antics have caused national debate so it was unlikely her dad was going to be kept in the dark.

But Dani’s secret was rumbled way before that when the press broke the news that she would be entering the villa.

Jo revealed she got a phone call from her husband and pretended to be busy before cooking him a slap up meal to explain the situation.

On the discussions they had to stop Danny discovering the truth, Jo said: "So we both discussed it. She had all her meetings. She was really worried. She said ‘daddy’s not going to approve of it.’

"I said don’t worry about daddy he’s not going to know. The football will be on. Nobody watches Love Island. You’ll probably get kicked out in a week. Have a great time, go and see the family in Majorca.

"She said ‘what if he finds out?’ I said just tell him you’re going on a holiday."

Jo was also shocked by the news as she thought her daughter wanted to advance her acting career by doing plays in the theatre.

But she was convinced Dani was more of a reality TV star than an actress and needed a big break after pulling out of Survival Of The Fittest .

Her parents met in Majorca, where the villa resides, so it seemed the perfect place for her daughter to find love.

Jo added: "I said just go into Love Island. It’s Majorca we spent half our life there. Our mum and dad met in Majorca as well. That’s where the romance began.

"I said go on a holiday, go on a two month vacation, back pack in the villa."
