EastEnders celebrated England’s World Cup win against Colombia tonight with a good dose of Danny Dyer banter.
The soap actor, who plays pub landlord Mick Carter, was seen a clip that had been filmed as a last minute addition to tonight’s episode.
In the scene, Mick gushes over goal keeper Jordan Pickford before letting rip at Sweden, who England will be playing in their quarter final match on Saturday.
Sauntering up to Halfway, he says: "I mean, he was like a cat, the geezer. He was like, ‘Get hold of that! See ya later on Colombia!’"
Halfway pitched in: "When he missed that penalty though I thought, ‘Oh no, here we go again!’ But I can’t believe it."
"Well start believing it," he said. "We’ve got Jordan Pickford in between the sticks.
Mick quipped: "Just give us the trophy! I’m tellin’ ya what, son – it’s coming home."
"But Sweden ain’t no joke, Mick," Halfway insisted. "They’re a strong unit."
"Flat pack mugs," the landlord joked. "We’ll smash the granny out of them."
And viewers loved it.
One tweeted: "Danny Dyer singing “its coming home” on #eastenders has made my night."
While another commented: "the talk of the World Cup on #eastenders is honestly making me giggle! ITS COMING HOME @bbceastenders."
A third remarked: "Hats off to #EastEnders for the #WorldCup mention. Brilliant! #ItsComingHome #Eng @MrDDyer."
