EastEnders bosses axed the original plans for Max Branning’s revenge scheme [BBC]
Max Branning has been targeting Walford in a revenge scheme that was apparently meant to go on for three years.
But Jake Wood, who plays the EastEnders character, confirmed this was scrapped in favour of a huge Christmas storyline.
Jake explained that scenes which saw Max plotting against his neighbours and loved ones were set to go on in a much longer plot.
But new soap boss John Yorke changed things when he came into the soap earlier this year, “ramping up” the storyline.

Jake told OK! Online and other press: “Originally I think Sean wanted it to be a three-year story.
“That was what I was led to believe – which was probably too long, to be fair.
“But all of the elements were there – Willmott-Brown, Max’s revenge and his unravelling, but I was never told where it was going to go.”
Jake added: “Since we got John Yorke and Simon Ashdown back, all the elements that were there anyway, as far as I understand it, have just been absolutely ramped up, it has been a very quick turnaround.”

Max will take centre stage this Christmas in explosive scenes, in the fallout to his revenge plan being foiled.
Walford will change forever amid the news from John that there will be a shock death in upcoming scenes.
The Brannings will be torn apart, as the truth about Max is exposed.
Viewers will have to tune in to the dramatic Christmas Day episode at 9pm on BBC1 to see what goes down.
