Emmerdale: Matthew Wolfenden has teased Christmas on the soap [WENN]
Emmerdale will feature a very “different” style Christmas Day episode this year, with things taking a huge “twist”.
Matthew Wolfenden, who plays David Metcalfe on the ITV soap, has confirmed Robert Sugden and Aaron Dingle will take centre stage.
The characters, played by Ryan Hawley and Danny Miller, split earlier this year shortly after getting married.
While Robron, their ship name, are no more for now it’s teased they could reconcile very soon – and fans are longing for this to happen.

Speaking exclusively to OK! Online, Matthew confirmed that Christmas Day will be a Robron special.
Teasing the episode, Matthew promised fans would not be disappointed with the soap set to air a twist.
Matthew told us: “Christmas is gonna be a really special episode. I’m not in it but it is a Robron episode which a lot of people will be excited about.
“So it’s gonna be very different, it’s not gonna be a normal Emmerdale episode.”

On what viewers can expect from the festive episode, Matthew revealed the episode will “turn tables”.
He explained: “It’s got a real twist to it and it’s gonna be good.
“I think Iain MacLeod, our new producer, has done that to the show – a lot of things that are different and turning the tables a little bit and that’s what’s gonna happen on the Christmas day episode.”
Matthew might not be in the scenes, but he has read the storyline script and revealed some exciting things about it.

He added: “I’ve read the script. However I’m not in it which I’m annoyed about, but I’ve read it and it is really clever.”
Emmerdale continues weeknights at 7pm on ITV1.
