The Great Celebrity Bake Off continues in disastrous fashion, but whose win as Star Baker saved the day?

The Great Celebrity Bake Off was back with a spectacularly messy vengeance this evening (March 13), as another round of celebrities put their baking prowess to the test for Stand Up To Cancer.

Hoping to follow in the footsteps of last week’s Star Baker Harry Hill were Nick Hewer, Perri Kiely, Stacey Solomon and Ricky Wilson, who all tried their best to impress judges Paul and Prue.

Apart from Nick, who just essentially gave up. Not that we blame him.

This week, the gang in the hallowed Bake Off tent were set the tasks of baking scones, perfecting the art of a Devil’s Food Cake in the Technical Challenge and masterfully creating a 3D self-portrait made out of delicious choux pastry.

Discounting Countdown‘s Nick Hewer, Perri, Stacey and Ricky all put in a fairly good innings – even if Stacey and Ricky did decide to go left-field with their choice of lemonade and seaweed scones respectively.

A seaweed scone is a crime against baking, we tell you.

But, unsurprisingly, after being given the highest accolade of a Hollywood handshake for his white chocolate and raspberry scones, getting first for his Technical Challenge and impressing with his (literally) sugar-spun hair, Perri was awarded the honour of Star Baker.

Congratulations, Perri! We wish we could bake – and black-flip – like you.

(Don’t worry, Nick. You’re still the winner in our eyes.)

The Great Stand Up To Cancer Bake Off continues next Tuesday (March 20) with Ruth Davidson, Ella Eyre, Jamie Laing and Tim Minchin.
