Here’s your first look at Amy Adams and Patricia Clarkson in HBO’s Sharp Objects.
The series will debut on HBO in summer 2018 and is based on Gillian Flynn’s debut novel, with the distinction of it being the only of her three novels to be adapted for TV instead of film.
Flynn helped write the script with help from Dietland’s Marti Noxon, while Big Little Lies director Jean-Marc Vallée is in the director’s chair for his second TV outing.
And – courtesy of Entertainment Weekly – here’s two first-look production photos.
Sharp Objects follows news journalist Camille Preaker (Adams), who returns to her home town of Wind Gap to investigate the death of a young girl and the disappearance of another, just months after being released from a psychiatric hospital for her self-harm habit.
While there, Camille sets to uncover what happened to the girls while battling her own personal demons and her domineering mother Aurora (Patricia Clarkson).
Told in eight parts, Sharp Objects also stars The Mindy Project’s Chris Messina as Richard Willis, a detective who’s also digging into the girls’ disappearance.
And although we haven’t yet seen him in action, we have technically already seen some of the set, thanks to an update on Gillian Flynn’s Twitter feed.
