Hollyoaks brings back Pete Buchanan tonight in the aftermath of Cleo's heart attack

Hollyoaks will air Pete Buchanan’s return scenes tonight (October 11) as Joel Dexter pays him a tense visit in prison.

Kai Owen has reprised his role as Pete for a brief stint, having last been seen in June 2016 when he was sentenced to prison for his abuse of Joel’s fiancée Cleo McQueen.

Viewers saw Cleo suffer a devastating heart attack on her wedding day earlier this week, as her bulimia storyline came to a head.

Prior to this, Cleo had confided in Joel about a letter she’d had from Pete, congratulating her on her upcoming wedding.

Still struggling to accept the fact that Cleo has been battling with her bulimia for months, Joel is adamant that Pete is to blame for her predicament tonight and ultimately decides to pay him a visit.

Joel pretends to still be a man of the cloth in other to get some time alone with Pete at the prison, but what is he planning?

Speaking about tonight’s scenes, Rory Douglas-Speed, who plays Joel, said: “Joel personally believes that Pete is at the centre of all of Cleo’s issues. That’s why he’s visiting him in the first place.

“You’ll have to wait and see what happens next week, but the audience will love and hate it all at the same time.

“I’d also like to say that I really enjoyed working with Kai, and I learned so much from him. He’s a genuinely lovely man, fantastic actor, and all round good guy.”

Hollyoaks airs on weeknights at 6.30pm on Channel 4, with first-look screenings at 7pm on E4.
