Agents of SHIELD fans rejoice, for Lance Hunter (Nick Blood) will be back on our screens in the upcoming season 5 – but he won’t be bringing his estranged wife Bobbi Morse (Adrianne Palicki) with him.
Hunter and Morse were disavowed from SHIELD in season 3 because of ABC’s intentions for a spin-off show with the former couple front and centre, but the series was axed before it even aired, leaving the duo out of SHIELD and out of fans’ lives.
The team have been dropping hints for a while about a possible return for the characters, with ABC president Channing Dungey teasing last year: “I never underestimate Marvel’s ability to bring people back.”
But according to Entertainment Weekly, it’s only Hunter that will return when the show comes back later this year, which isn’t surprising as Palicki is being kept pretty busy with her role on The Orville.
Still, we can dream that she might make time for a guest appearance; and if not, Hunter will make up for her absence with his return to SHIELD.
There’s no word yet on whether Hunter is back for food, a series arc or even just a small cameo, but we can’t wait to see what Marvel have up their sleeves for this OG character.
Agents of SHIELD season 5 is expected to air late in 2017.
