Community‘s Donald Glover is well-known for his love of Spider-Man, and was even the subject of a campaign to have him replace Toby Maguire as Peter Parker.
Obviously that never happened (and we’re still not over it), but we were very excited to hear that he had joined the cast of Spider-Man: Homecoming.
And now we may finally know who he’s playing in the movie…
(Warning: Contains a potential spoiler for Spider-Man: Homecoming)
Geek Tyrant has posted what it claims to be a cast list for the movie, revealing Glover to be playing Aaron Davis – aka the Prowler.
The Prowler is a purple-cloaked, science-genius, villain-turned-hero and a long-time ally of Spider-Man.
Aaron is actually an alternate version of the character from the Ultimate Universe. He is a criminal and the uncle of the Ultimate Spider-Man, Miles Morales.
Glover has been seen only briefly in the Homecoming trailers, and it is believed that he has some connection to the Vulture’s (Michael Keaton) villainous cartel.
The actor has already voiced Morales – a half-black, half-hispanic hero who is now part of Marvel’s mainstream comics continuity – in the Ultimate Spider-Man cartoon, and we hadn’t quite given up hope that Glover would somehow be playing him in the film.
The cast list also reveals two surprising cameos awaiting us in the movie.
Spider-Man: Homecoming will be released in the UK on July 5 and in the US on July 7.
