Quantico axes another original cast member heading into season 3

Yet another cast member has been axed from Quantico, with Aunjanue Ellis leaving the ABC thriller.

According to TVLine Aunjanue, who plays Miranda Shaw, will not return to the show for its third season as part of a big creative overhaul by new showrunner Michael Seitzman.

She joins Pearl Thusi and Yasmine Al Massari in departing the show, though she will move on to a lead role in CBS drama Chiefs.

However, given that we knew Miranda was being written out, the news doesn’t come as a huge surprise.

One cast member that will be returning (despite being written out previously), on the other hand, is Russell Tovey’s Harry Doyle.

The story is set to shift things back to a smaller cast for its third season, with regulars Priyanka Chopra, Johanna Braddy and Jake McLaughlin also returning. Joining in on the action are Marlee Matlin, Alan Powell and Amber Skye Noyes.

Quantico follows Chopra’s Alex Parrish, who becomes involved in trying to crack a conspiracy after a hostage crisis at the G20 summit.

Meanwhile, star Tovey announced yesterday (February 19) that he was engaged to his partner Steve Brockman, confirming to Digital Spy: “Completely unexpected but very very happy and looking forward to having a proper party to celebrate when back in London.”

Quantico season 3 will premiere on Thursday, April 26 on ABC.
