Throughout his glittering career, which spanned over 75 years, Sir Bruce continued to engrain his name in the BBC hall of fame as he fronted popular dancing show Strictly Come Dancing alongside Tess Daly from 2004 to 2014.
The Come Dancing reboot was an immediate success and, through the years, scores of celebrities have passed through the ballroom.
The show themselves tweeted “RIP” while an array of professional dancers and contestants past and present have taken to social media to share their emotions and memories.
Although not having presented weekly that year, Sir Bruce left the show after the Christmas special in 2014.

Claudia Winkleman stepped in to host the show with Tess, with Claudia taking ownership of the “Clauditorium” up the stairs after the dancers had finished their routines.
Both Tess and Claudia have shared their own heartbreaking tributes on their social media pages, with Claudia hailing the late presenter as the “King of TV”.
Emotionally, Tess wrote: “There are no words to describe how heartbroken I am to be told the saddest news that my dear friend Sir Bruce Forsyth has passed away.
“From the moment we met, Bruce and I did nothing but laugh our way through a decade of working together on Strictly Come Dancing.

She added that Sir Bruce was “always there for her” and that she considered herself “extremely fortunate” to have worked with the man who “defined Saturday night entertainment”.
Our thoughts are with his family and friends at this time.
