You’d be forgiven for thinking that not many people would want to name their child after a patricidal, wannabe Sith Lord, but you’d also be wrong.
That’s because Kylo (of Mr Ren fame) is actually the fastest-growing baby name in the United States. Of course it is.
Thanks to Adam Driver’s dark and troubled villain in Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Kylo is now the 901st most popular boy’s name in the US.
Although The Force Awakens came out two years ago, America’s Social Security Administration revealed in its annual list that Kylo jumped 2,368 spots in the rankings. In 2015, it was 3,269th.
It’s a daring choice, considering that the character is best known for going evil and killing his own father. But whatever floats your boat…
There has been a wealth of inter-galactic events to keep the franchise fresh in people’s minds – not least the anticipation for The Last Jedi.
Now that we’ve exhausted all that excitement from the excellent Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, we’re looking forward to Episode VIII‘s impending December release, where we’ll next see Kylo Ren.

The first official trailer for The Last Jedi dropped very recently, and unfortunately for us, it’s as cryptic as it is epic.
Giving away almost nothing – but still just enough – the trailer teased Rey’s Jedi training, Finn’s recovery and a somewhat unhelpful, and ominous, Luke Skywalker.
Star Wars: The Last Jedi flies into cinemas on December 15. We can’t help but wonder how many baby names this one will inspire.
