Sylvester Stallone has already been teasing us with the possibility of Ivan Drago (Dolph Lundgren), Rocky IV’s super-villain, making a comeback in Creed 2.
Now, Sly’s taken it a step further by hinting that Rocky and Drago may go head-to-head again in the sequel. Rocky fans will recall the showdown from Rocky IV where Rocky tried to avenge Creed (Carl Weathers), who died at the hands of Drago.
Well, it’s looking likely that Creed 2 will follow Adonis Creed (Michael B Jordan) as he tries to avenge his father’s death – with Sly possibly throwing a few punches himself.
“You know I gotta hit Drago once,” Sly told TMZ Sports.
Drago has been connected to the Creed sequel for a while now, with Jordan, who plays Apollo Creed’s son, saying that the film was missing a “true villain”. Like – hmm, Drago perhaps?
Sly’s been taking to Instagram to post plenty of throwback photos of himself and Dolph, which is adding nothing but fuel to the fire where these rumours are concerned.
“Maybe if I ignore him, he’ll go away,” he posted last week, alongside a photo of the pair on set from 1976.
We see what you’re doing here, Sly. We’re ready for another Rocky-Drago showdown when you are.
Creed 2 is expected to be released in cinemas in 2018.
