Teen Wolf may have only just wrapped up (last night, in fact) but Tyler Hoechlin has already found his newest project.
The star, who played Derek Hale in the hit show, has landed a regular role in season three of MTV’s Scream, as revealed by The Hollywood Reporter.
Hoechlin is going to be playing Shane, a high-school dropout turned drug-dealing party planner who has hidden depths, opposite Power Rangers’ RJ Cyler.
You might also recognise Tyler Hoechlin from his all-too-few appearances in season two of Supergirl, where he played Superman/Clark Kent/Kal-El/The Man of Steel.
He hasn’t been officially confirmed or denied for the upcoming third season of the popular DC superhero show, but we’re a bit worried about how a regular role in this six-episode season of Scream will affect a potential return.
One thing we know is that the Supergirl showrunners want him back, at least.
“We’d love him to return,” co-showrunner Jessica Queller told Digital Spy.
Fellow boss Robert Rovner added: “If the story presents itself and Tyler’s available, we’d love to have him back. We love having Superman on the show.”

Meanwhile, Jimmy Olsen actor Mehcad Brooks said: “Tyler’s amazing, we love him, we miss him. Hopefully he comes back. I don’t think there’s any plans right now, but there’s always room for Tyler.”
Scream‘s six-episode third season will be broadcast as an event over three nights in March on MTV in the US, although no specific premiere date has been announced yet.
Supergirl will return to The CW on Monday, October 9 at 8/7c. The series airs on Sky1 in the UK.
