Once Upon a Time‘s forthcoming season has been compared to Star Wars by the show’s writers. Yes, really.
Earlier this year, it was announced that the seventh season of the show would signify a major reboot for the series, of everything from the cast to the storyline to even the location.
And now, show writers Adam Horowitz and Edward Kitsis have compared the pseudo-reboot to the rebooted fantasy series Star Wars.

“I would never put us in the same category as this, but the analogy could be Star Wars in a sense, which is that you had these first couple of trilogies, they wrap, and now we’re in a new adventure,” Horowitz told Entertainment Weekly.
“We have some of the same characters who are carrying over into it, and a bunch of new characters who are telling the story. So the DNA’s the same.”
“The general idea of ‘Here is Henry, here is Regina, here is Hook, and here is Rumple on a new adventure within a new book with new fairytale characters’ felt exciting to us,” added Kitsis.
Horowitz and Kitsis’s comments come after actress Lana Parrilla, who plays Regina / The Evil Queen, revealed she’d love to see a OUAT/Star Wars crossover.
“I think that we should somehow incorporate Star Wars,” Parrilla said in an interview with Gold Derby.
“I think that [co-creators Adam Horowitz and Eddy Kitsis] are huge Star Wars fans, and if there was a way to bring Darth Vader in, that would be cool.
“I would say that he would probably be a better love interest for the Evil Queen, but now she’s taken.”
Once Upon a Time returns October 6 on ABC.
