The whiplash that Once Upon a Time fans are feeling right now shows no signs of stopping.
As ABC unveiled its fall programming schedule on Tuesday (May 16), Once Upon a Time was confirmed to be moving from its traditional Sunday timeslot to Fridays at 8pm ET starting this autumn.

It will be filling the slot vacated by Tim Allen’s Last Man Standing, which was controversially cancelled by ABC last week despite its stable ratings.
Fridays are traditionally a tough night for all of the broadcast networks, although it’s certainly possible that Once Upon a Time‘s hugely loyal fanbase will put off going out on the town for their favourite show.
However, Once Upon a Time has been testing those fans’ patience with its creative decision to write out main characters in Ginnifer Goodwin (Snow White), Emilie de Ravin (Belle), Josh Dallas (Prince Charming) and Jared Gilmore (Henry) in last weekend’s season six finale.
While Jennifer Morrison will make a special appearance in season seven, there’s already fear among fans that her character Emma Swan will be killed off to allow for a previously-announced time jump.
Getting back to ABC’s schedule, new Marvel series Inhumans will be paired with Once Upon a Time on Fridays this autumn in the 9pm ET slot. ABC is delaying the return of Agents of SHIELD until the mid-season, so it can take Inhumans‘ spot on Fridays once it comes to an end.
