Emilie de Ravin has addressed her exit from Once Upon a Time for the first time since the news was announced.
Show bosses decided to hit the ‘reset’ button for the seventh season, with six of the nine series regulars leaving ABC’s hit.
Emilie de Ravin (Belle) is departing alongside Ginnifer Goodwin (Snow White), Josh Dallas (Prince Charming), Jared S Gilmore (Henry Mills), and Rebecca Mader (Zelena), while Jennifer Morrison (Emma Swan) has decided to quit despite being offered a new contract.
De Ravin, who joined as a recurring character in season one before being promoted the following season, has told fans on Instagram that it has been a pleasure to “bring Belle to life”.
“While I would have loved to continue exploring Belle’s journey, the show has decided to move in a different creative direction,” she said.
“Massive thank you to all the fans for your incredible love and support towards me and this character over the past six years.
“It’s been an honour and privilege to bring Belle to life.”
The series regulars who will be returning are Lana Parrilla (Regina), Robert Carlyle (Rumplestiltskin), and Hook (Colin O’Donoghue).
They will be joined by new cast members Andrew J West and Alison Fernandez.
Mader previously responded to her exit by praising the fans of the show and calling them special, while Morrison (who has agreed to return for one guest appearance in season seven) explained that she quit because of personal reasons and wanting to take a break.
The season six finale – titled ‘The Final Battle’ – airs tonight on ABC in the US.
