Wayne’s World star Dana Carvey has revealed that he didn’t actually know the lyrics to ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’.
On last night’s (September 7) The Late Late Show with James Corden, Dana described shooting the iconic headbanging scene as “pure torture” as he wasn’t as young as Garth was meant to be at the time.
“We went out, some town east of LA, and we just started doing that and after the fifth hour, two vertebrates popped out of the back and hit Mike Myers in his eye,” he joked, before dropping the bombshell.
“It was very, very, very painful and also the fact that I had not memorised the lyrics of the song. I got away with it, but I could not remember the lyrics.”
Fresh with this knowledge, rewatch the scene below and you can definitely tell that during the early stages, Dana is mouthing the lyrics to the Queen classic every time there’s a close-up.
Movie magic ruined.
Back in July, Wayne’s World fans celebrated its 25th birthday by recreating the scene to break the headbanging world record, with their efforts topping the 2014 record of 320 by a considerable distance.
Fans have also been attempting to crowdfund a third Wayne’s World movie with one campaign calling for a threequel set in 2047 with a geriatric Wayne and Garth.
