Girl, 7, raises a record £150,000 for Withybush Hospital in Wales that treated her dad’s cancer

A GIRL aged just seven has raised a record £150,000 for the hospital which treated her father before her birth.

Elly Neville was hailed a miracle when conceived four years after dad Lyn’s bone marrow transplant.

Doctors had told Lyn, 55, and wife Ann they would be unable to have kids due to his blood cancer treatment.

When she learned of the op, Elly decided to raise funds for the unit that treated him — Ward 10 at Withybush Hospital in Haverfordwest, Wales.

Her first donation came from raffling a St David’s Day flag she made in 2015.

She, her parents and brother Rhys, 20, then saw the fund soar after approaching business chiefs with their story.

Elly, whose fund had topped £152,000 yesterday, is believed to be the youngest person in Britain to have raised more than £150,000 for charity.

The schoolgirl, of Pembroke, West Wales, received a British Citizen Youth Award for her fundraising at the House of Lords in 2016.

She said: “I wanted to raise money to say thanks to the hospital which helped save dad. Without them I wouldn’t be here.”

Lyn said: “I’m so proud of her — she’s my little star.”

The Sun pledged £1,000 to the fund, dubbed Elly’s Ward 10 Flag Appeal.
