THE family of a five-year-old boy who died in a blaze at home have shared a heartbreaking picture of him.
Alex Clarke suffered fatal burns and smoke inhalation in the fire on Sunday evening.
His mum, brother and sister were all at home at the time, but escaped uninjured.
Firefighters said two members of the public desperately tried to rescue the little boy, but were forced back by the blazing heat and smoke.
Alex died from his severe injuries in hospital on Monday.
Crews from both Rothwell and Hunslet were called to his home in Second Avenue in Rothwell, Leeds, at around 8.30pm.
They confirmed the home's smoke alarms were working at the time of the fire.
The little boy's family are being supported by specially-trained officers.
Fire crews have now launched a joint investigation with West Yorkshire Police to establish the cause of the fire.
