Former friends revealed Settelen, 65, is separated from wife Sarah and estranged from his siblings.
And brother Max-Hugh, 59, said: “The last time I spoke to him was at my father’s funeral 12 years ago.
“We’re not close anymore and he doesn’t talk to my sister either. One of the problems between us was he lost his daughter.”

Ellie was born with severe cerebral palsy and died after being rushed to hospital with pneumonia.
As nurses unplugged her breathing tubes, he scooped her up with the words “Come to Daddy”, his wife revealed.
Sarah, 55, recalled in 2010: “I wanted to hold her too but I couldn’t do it straight away because holding her body meant accepting her death and I wasn’t ready.”

Settelen told him he would be dedicating his life to his daughter and “had limited time to devote to friends”.
The pal said: “It is one of the most shocking things that has ever happened to me.”
Two years after Ellie’s death, charity worker Sarah was volunteering in a Russian orphanage when she met a three-year-old girl who also had cerebral palsy.
In an emotional call to her husband he told her: “You have to bring her home.”

They adopted her the following year. But Settelen was becoming increasingly withdrawn.
Last week he cut a lonely figure near his £713,000 home in Hampton, South West London.
His wife has a nearby £690,000 house she bought without a mortgage.
Settelen, who helped Diana practise public speaking in the early 1990s, first sold his tapes to American TV network NBC for around £500,000.

It is not known how much Settelen, who appeared briefly in Coronation Street, has received for the latest deal.
A source said: “He was paid well for his work with Di and he’s made a fortune since her death.”
Max-Hugh, who now lives in Ontario, Canada, believes his brother’s success contributed to his isolation.
He said: “If suddenly part of the family becomes very wealthy, they don’t talk to the others.

“Not that I’m begging for money. I’m not wealthy but I don’t need any money.
“His wife inherited two apartment buildings in Covent Garden so she is very, very wealthy.
“Through this stuff he obviously has made quite a bit of money and he’ll make some more.”
Settelen’s sister Jacqueline, 63, of Godalming, Surrey, said: “We’re not in contact.”
