TV storm chaser Joel Taylor has died, aged just 38.
Pals confirmed the tragic news on Twitter saying: "We've lost a legend."
Joel became a TV favourite for his role on reality series 'Storm Chasers' which aired on the Discovery channel.
His co-star and best pal Reed Timmer wrote on Twitter: "I am shocked and absolutely devastated by the loss of my incredible, caring friend.
"We chased so many intense storms, and I wish we could have just one more storm chase. I'll miss you forever, Joel."
The cause of Joel's death is not yet known but local reports suggested his death was NOT storm chasing related.
Joel's final Facebook post was made last week on January 15 and did not hint at any health problems.
Sharing news of his niece's birth, he wrote: "My first niece arrived this morning!"
Fans and storm-chasing enthusiasts have paid tribute to the 38-year-old following the heartbreaking news.
Team Western OK Chaser, a group based in Oklahoma, US, posted a picture of Joel, adding: "Our community of Elk City and the Storm Chasing community lost a great guy today.
"Joel Taylor was truly an inspiration to myself and many who knew him.
"He was one of the most level headed chasers on the roads and truly a classy guy outside of chasing.
"He didn’t chase for the glory he chased because he had a true passion for storms. "
"In the last few years he’d load up with his dad and go chase and not even take a camera.
"Our hearts are hurting for his mom Tracy and dad Jimmy along with his brother and sister and their children.
"Please know you are in our prayers. RIP Joel."
In response to a comment that chasing storms is a dangerous hobby, the page responded: "His passing was not chase related."
