Staten Island president slams de Blasio

Staten Island Borough President James Oddo smells a rat.

The beep is irate that Mayor Bill de Blasio will drop $750,000 on a new anti-rodent effort for Manhattan’s Upper West Side, but can’t scrounge up any cash to rescue Staten Islanders from their hamster wheel of a commute.

“This is, what, the city’s 6,782nd attempt at reducing rats?” Oddo told The Post. “And I have Staten Islanders with commutes of 2 and 2¹/₂ hours each way.”

The mayor’s heavily taxpayer-subsidized new ferry system has no stops in Staten Island, the only borough without one.

Oddo said that connecting his borough to the 16-stop NYC Ferry system would add just $1 million to its $33 million budget.

“$750K for this plan, while a seeming total unwillingness to include the borough with the longest commute times into the city’s fast ferry system?” he fumed in a Friday Facebook post.
