Ariana Grande jokes about being ‘consistent’ as she posts childhood snap of herself rocking her trademark high ponytail
If there’s one consistent facet of Ariana Grande’s appearance, it’s her love of high ponytails.
Now the 26-year-old singer and songwriter has confirmed that her adoration for the towering hair style dates all the way back to childhood.
She shared a photo of a kid-sized version of herself sporting her now-iconic ‘do to Instagram on Thursday.
Old school: Ariana Grande, 26, shared a photo to Instagram of herself wearing a high ponytail, showing that she’s always been a fan of the look
Ariana can be seen displaying a soft smile in the picture as she stares directly into the camera.
She was pictured in front of the slate gray background that appeared to be a standard portrait studio backdrop.
The future pop star wore a navy blue shirt reading ‘Paradise’ in cursive letters, and her brunette tresses were pulled up tight in a ponytail with strands falling on either side of her face.
Current style: Ariana had her pony fanned to either side of her face, though now she’s more likely to let it fall dramatically over her back and shoulders; pictured in December
‘If anything …. she’s consistent,’ joked the Thank U, Next singer in the caption.
The high (and extremely long) ponytail has become a staple of Ariana’s style, both during her live performances and in her everyday life.
Though she has apparently been a longtime fan, she hasn’t always worn ponytails. Her character on Nickelodeon’s Victorious and its spin-off Sam & Cat usually wore her ruby red locks down.
Even when she does have a ponytail, she doesn’t always go with her standard towering look.
In her recent video for the collaborative single Boyfriend, her brunette tresses are held up in a ponytail that’s fanned around and obscured.
Departure: She hasn’t always favored the high ponytail, especially on the Nickelodeon shows Victorious and Sam & Cat, during which she wore her ruby red locks down
New ‘do: Even in her recent Boyfriend video, she had her hair fanned out rather than in her standard high pony
Last week, the Seven Rings star was revealed to be dating her Social House collaborator Mikey Foster, according to Page Six.
He makes up half of the pop duo from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania that also includes Charles ‘Scootie’ Anderson.
She and Mikey are featured in the Boyfriend video as a pair of ex-lovers arriving at a party.
The two do their best to flirt with other partygoers to make each other jealous, even as they fantasize about assaulting or even murdering anyone who might steal away their former partners.

Ariana and Mikey showed off their winning chemistry when the two performed the track during her headlining set at Lollapalooza in Chicago earlier this month.
Boyfriend is only the latest in a string of collaborations between the pop artists.
She previously worked with the duo on her number one hit Thank U, Next, as well as 7 Rings off the same album.

The actress and singer stuck around the Windy City to make a surprise appearance at Babs’ concert in Chicago.
Her delighted audience was treated to a duet performance of the number one hit No More Tears (Enough Is Enough), which the 77-year-old singer originally performed with Donna Summer in 1979 on her Wet album.
Any Ariana super fans who visited Barbra’s Instagram prior to the show would have figured out her surprise guest, as she shared a photo of the two comparing their long nails that showcased her distinctive finger tattoos.
