Britain’s Got Talent 2022: ‘They say in life save the best till last!’ Alesha Dixon awards her coveted golden buzzer to rap and pianist duo Flintz & T4ylor – who met for the FIRST time at their audition

Britain’s Got Talent viewers were in for a treat on Saturday night as the auditions progressed into their sixth week.

And while a group of pantomime dames, a touching contemporary dance routine and two comedic performances earned the judges’ praise, it was rap and pianist duo Flintz & T4ylor who bagged Alesha Dixon’s coveted golden buzzer.

Alesha, 43, was the last judge out of Simon Cowell, Amanda Holden and David Walliams to grant a hopeful an automatic place in the competition’s semi-final – and rapper Flintz, 23, and pianist Taylor, 17, piqued her desired interest.

The talented pair had not rehearsed together prior to the audition – as they never crossed paths in real life. ‘We met through the first lockdown, via Instagram,’ Flintz, from Croydon, explained to the judges. ‘Today was the first day we met!’ Taylor, from Birmingham, added.

Taylor explained how he had sent the piano backing over social media, for Flitz to practise his original rap.

‘I was a troublesome kid, hanging out with the wrong set of people, going down the wrong path. With mum and dad’s guidance, they dragged me out and helped me become the person I am today,’ Flintz said of his personal lyrics.

Flintz’s song Change was written in a bid to inspire his younger brothers to not take ‘the same footsteps’ he did: ‘I want them to be better than me,’ he told the judges.

The performance was met with raucous applause and a standing ovation, with Flintz’s mum, dad and brothers looking on proudly.

Amanda gushed: ‘Everything was so clear and so passionate. I loved hearing your story – you are phenomenal on that piano.

David added: ‘There are a lot of people watching that who will relate and they’ll take a very positive message from it,’, while Simon branded it a ‘perfect audition’ and a ‘movie story.

Golden buzzer giver Alesha lauded: ‘Nothing makes me more happy than seeing young musicians. We’ve had no one on the show like you before. They say in life save the best till last…’ before pressing the golden buzzer.

Earlier in the auditions, Simon quipped that a drag ensemble were ‘better’ singers than the Spice Girls.

The mogul made the hilarious remark after Damenation – the first-ever Dames to grace the talent show’s stage – made their grand arrival in their eye-popping pantomime dresses.

Before making a jibe at the 90s pop sensation, his impressed co-star David gushed, ‘I felt like I had died and gone to heaven!’

Simon soon butted in: ‘It was like a Spice Girls reunion… just better singing.’

Damenation performed rewritten versions of I Will Survive and It’s Raining Men (changed to It’s Raining Dames).

Simon was also full of praise for Dane Bates Collective – a contemporary dance group that performed a highly emotive routine based on the true story of a prisoner of war during World War Two.

He praised: ‘This is by far the best dance routine so far this year’, while a moved Amanda added that she ‘wanted to know the full story.’

Father-of-one Simon was not short of compliments for magician Junwoo either, who performed an inspiring sleight of hand card tricks: ‘I think you are brilliant. One of the best magicians we’ve seen all year,’ he said.

Good sport: David was actively involved in the latest bout of auditions, with him being reluctantly roped into pulling a heart-shaped sword out of a woman’s throat, while she was dressed as Marilyn Monroe

David was actively involved in the latest bout of auditions, with him being reluctantly roped into pulling a heart-shaped sword out of a woman’s throat, while she was dressed as Marilyn Monroe.

And he once again found himself at the mercy of a terrifying performer, as a blindfolded Chirag Lukha sliced a cucumber held above his face as he lay on the floor.

Don’t try this at home! The judges were then left with their hearts in their mouths watching one shirtless contestant called Tulga perform a dangerous fire stunt

It was not just the acts providing entertainment, as David hilariously dressed up as the famous golden buzzer to kickstart the latest round of auditions.

He playfully blew a confetti cannon in Simon’s face as Amanda and Alesha looked on.
