Britney Spears' estranged mother Lynne Spears reacts to her wedding

Britney Spears’ estranged mother Lynne says she’s ‘soooo happy’ for the singer as she reacts to Sam Asghari wedding despite NOT being invited after Britney accused her of being ‘mastermind’ behind conservatorship

Britney Spears’ estranged mom Lynne Spears has publicly congratulated her famous daughter on her wedding to Sam Asghari, despite not being invited to the ceremony.

‘You look radiant and so happy!’ she, 67, commented on the pop star’s, 40, Instagram post on Friday, which featured four photos from last week’s stunning ceremony at Britney’s home in Thousand Oaks, California.

‘Your wedding is the “Dream” wedding! And having it at your home makes it so sentimental and special! I am soooo happy for you! I love you!’ she stated.

Happy for her: Britney Spears’, 40, estranged mom Lynne Spears, 67, has publicly congratulated her daughter on her wedding to Sam Asghari, despite not being invited

Britney left her mother as well as her father Jamie Spears, 69, off the guest list, which included A-list stars like Madonna, Paris Hilton, Selena Gomez and Drew Barrymore.

The Womanizer younger singer’s sister, Jamie Lynn Spears, 31, was also not invited to the lavish ceremony, following their fallout over Jamie’s involvement in Britney’s conservatorship.

However, Page Six reported that her brother Bryan, 45, reportedly managed to get an invite, but chose not to attend.

As for Asghari’s, 28, side of the family, he had a few members present, including his three sisters.

Spears has been sharing photos and clips from the special event on her social media, including the moments leading up to her wedding, which included a lot of nerves and a ‘panic attack.’

Lynne’s comment comes after the mother/daughter relationship was strained, following the singer’s nearly-14-year-long conservatorship, which was finally terminated in November 2021.

Britney shocked her fans when she testified in June 2021 that her conservatorship, which was put in place in 2008, prevented her from getting married or even having another child.

The legal guardianship was terminated by a judge last November allowing the singer to finally marry her long-term partner Sam.

‘I want to be able to get married and have a baby,’ she said during a conservatorship hearing last year.

Earlier this year the Toxic hit maker announced she was expecting her first child with Sam before sadly updated fans a few weeks later that she had suffered a miscarriage.

Left out: Britney left her mother and father Jamie Spears, 69, off the guest list, which included A-list stars like Madonna, Paris Hilton, Selena Gomez and Drew Barrymore

Britney’s father Jamie had the star placed under a conservatorship in February 2008, during a difficult period in her life during which she publicly shaved her head.

It was also on the heels of her divorce from her second husband, Kevin Federline, 44, with whom she shares two sons, Sean Preston, 16, and Jayden James, 15.

Jamie was placed in charge of Britney’s personal and medical decisions, and controlled her multimillion-dollar estate for 13 years.

Though Lynne did not have a formal role in the conservatorship, Britney has frequently lashed out at her and even alleged in a now-deleted Instagram post in November 2021 that she was the architect behind it, writing ‘You know exactly what you did.’

‘My dad is not smart enough to ever think of a conservatorship,’ Britney said. ‘My dad may have started the conservatorship 13 years ago … but what people don’t know is that my mom is the one who gave him the idea. I will never get those years back.

‘She secretly ruined my life … and yes I will call her and Lou Taylor out on it … so take your whole ‘I have NO IDEA what’s going on’ attitude and go f*** yourself!!!!’

In 2021, the singer has said that she wants to sue her family for allowing the conservatorship to go on for such a long period of time.

Difficult dynamics: Though Lynne did not have a formal role in the conservatorship, Britney accused her mother of being the architect behind it in 2021, and ‘ruining’ her life

Inside Britney Spears’ toxic family after conservatorship battle left her estranged from father, mother and sister

Britney Spears’ ‘cult-like’ conservatorship was terminated by a judge last November after 13 years of having her $60million fortune and personal affairs controlled by her 69-year-old father Jamie Spears.

And in the months leading up to the arrangement’s end, Britney exposed the true state of her relationship with Jamie, as well as her mother Lynne and sister Jamie Lynn.

She’s put her family on blast for allegedly taking advantage of her during the ‘demoralizing and degrading’ conservatorship, even going as far as to say they belong in jail for ‘what they did to me.’

And now, with Britney living life estranged from her father, sister and mother, DailyMail.com is looking back on how the conservatorship tore the Spears family apart.

Jamie Spears

Jamie was granted a ‘temporary conservatorship’ over his daughter in 2008 after the singer landed herself in the headlines for erratic behavior – including THAT infamous head shaving incident – and, eventually, suffering a nervous breakdown.

Despite its initial temporary nature, the conservatorship was extended indefinitely, leaving Britney under the control of her father for the next 13 years.

Though Britney has previously hinted at the fact that the conservatorship felt ‘just like Groundhog Day every day’ to her, the Lucky singer rarely spoke about the arrangement or the extent of her father’s involvement in her financial, personal and career decisions.

Jamie would abruptly step down as conservator in 2019, citing personal health reasons.’ Jodi Montgomery, an experienced conservator, would temporarily take over his duties.

Obvious tensions between Jamie and Britney became public when the performer objected to him remaining her conservator the following year, even threatening to cease performing if he remained in power.

Her attorney told NBC that Britney was ‘afraid of her father’ – a sentiment that would be echoed in the heartbreaking court testimony she delivered in July 2021.

Though her bid to give Jamie the boot was denied, Britney’s fight to end her conservatorship as a while would gain intense momentum in 2021 following the release of  The New York Times’ documentary Framing Britney Spears, which took a deep dive into the controversial conservatorship.

Just one month later, Britney’s lawyer Samuel Ingham III filed to have Jamie removed and to have Jodi takeover. And in April, she’d request to address the court regarding the life she’d been forced to live for the past 13 years.

In the 24-minute testimony, Britney slammed Jamie and claimed that the conservatorship was ‘allowing my dad to ruin my life.’

She accused her family of purposely instigating her ‘angry tantrums’ and ‘crazy’ behavior, which led to her undergoing a number of psych evaluations ‘against my will.’

She further alleged that Jamie and the rest of the family were staying at her home in Jackson Beach, Florida at the time and that her father ‘didn’t care to ask what was going on then.’

Britney also told the court that she was ‘always extremely scared’ of Jamie while growing up due to his struggles with alcohol.

By August 2021, after continued efforts in the courts by Britney’s new lawyer Mathew S. Rosengart, Jamie agreed to step down as conservator.

Bye! By August 2021, after continued efforts in the courts by Britney’s new lawyer Mathew S. Rosengart, Jamie agreed to step down as conservator. The following month, Jamie filed a petition to end the conservatorship as a whole, noting that he has ‘unconditionally loves and supports his daughter’ – it was officially terminated by a judge on November 12

After learning he would finally be abandoning the role, Britney blasted the conservatorship as ‘a family business’ and thanked Jamie for ‘exiting out of my life and finally allowing me to live mine !!!!

The following month, Jamie filed a petition to end the conservatorship as a whole, noting that he ‘unconditionally loves and supports his daughter’ – it was officially terminated by a judge on November 12.

In the months since the termination, Britney has continued to use Instagram to air out her grievances with her father, with her lawyer also recently accusing the Spears family patriarch of ‘bully[ing] and harass[ing]’ Britney after the fact.

Lynne Spears

Lynne Spears expressed publicly in a statement published in July 2021 that she fully supported her daughter’s big to remove Jamie as conservator.

It is clear to me that James P. Spears is incapable of putting my daughter’s interests ahead of his own on both a professional and a personal level,’ it read.

Yet Jamie hit back, accusing Lynne of being an absent mother and claiming she was paid $150,000 a year by Britney for her mansion in Louisiana.

Mastermind? Lynne Spears expressed publicly in a statement published in July 2021 that she fully supported her daughter’s big to remove Jamie as conservator. Britney would later accuse her mother of ‘secretly’ ruining her life and being the real mastermind behind her conservatorship in a now-deleted Instagram post published in November; Britney and Lynne pictured in 2001

‘In stark contrast, it appears that Lynne is the one who is incapable of putting her daughter’s interests ahead of her own,’ Jamie Spears’ statement said.

‘Lynne has not been involved in her daughter’s life for most of the past twelve years.’

Drama-filled childhood: More recently in a post published in April of this year, Britney alleged that her mother ‘thrived on drama’ and that she would argue with a ‘drunk’ Jamie ‘every night of my life’

Controversially, Lynne had published her own memoir Through The Storm: A Real Story Of Fame And Family In A Tabloid World in 2008, the year Jamie was made Britney’s conservator after the pop star’s months-long mental breakdown.

Britney would later accuse her mother of ‘secretly’ ruining her life and being the real mastermind behind her conservatorship in a now-deleted Instagram post published in November.

‘My dad may have started the conservatorship 13 years ago … but what people don’t know is that my mom is the one who gave him the idea,’ Britney captioned, adding that Jamie was ‘not smart enough’ to come up with the idea.

She continued: ‘She secretly ruined my life … and yes I will call her and [Britney’s former manager] Lou Taylor out on it … so take your whole ‘I have NO IDEA what’s going on’ attitude and go f*** yourself!!!!’

More recently in a post published in April of this year, Britney alleged that her mother ‘thrived on drama’ and that she would argue with a ‘drunk’ Jamie ‘every night of my life.’

 Jamie Lynn Spears

Britney and her younger sister Jamie Lynn Spears have developed a highly contentious relationship over the years – which would go into overdrive as Britney’s bid to end her long-standing conservatorship revved up in the courts.

Jamie Lynn broke her silence on the matter in an emotional Instagram video published in June 2021, where she stated that she wanted nothing but ‘happiness’ for her sister and that she always has and ‘always will’ support her.

The Zoey 101 star insisted that she’d made a ‘very conscious choice’ to ‘only participate’ in the singer’s life as her sister – and that she was not on Britney’s payroll as fans had previously accused her of being.

The video appeared to rile Britney up as she launched countless Instagram attacks directed at her sister Jamie Lynn, as well as her mother and father, one of which saw the star threaten to expose them if she ever landed a TV interview.

Jamie Lynn publicly begged for ‘peace’ amid her sister releasing the bombshell social media claims, which later resulted in Britney unfollowing her ‘mean a** sister’ on Instagram.

Controversial: In late 2021, Jamie Lynn announced she’d be releasing own memoir, titled Things I Should Have Said. Then while Jamie Lynn was doing publicity for the memoir she aired out a series of eye-catching allegations about Britney

In late 2021, Jamie Lynn announced she’d be releasing own memoir, titled Things I Should Have Said. She’d changed the titled from Must Confess, after receiving backlash from Britney fans over it being a partial lyric from Britney’s chart-topping track Baby One More Time.

Then while Jamie Lynn was doing publicity for the memoir she aired out a series of eye-catching allegations about Britney.

Jamie Lynn claimed her older sister once locked them both in a room with knife in hand, and described her behavior at one point as ‘erratic, paranoid and, spiraling.’

Britney categorically denied the knife story and retaliated by calling her sister a ‘scum person’ for telling ‘crazy lies’ about her.

As the bad blood between them rose to a boil, Britney also expressed regret that she had not ‘slapped you and Mamma right across your f***ing faces!!!!!’

During the week of the book’s release, Britney’s counsel sent Jamie Lynn a cease and desist over the ‘misleading or outrageous claims’ in the memoir.

How Britney Spears’ 13-year conservatorship restricted her ability to marry and have children

Britney Spears shocked her fans when she testified in June 2021 that her conservatorship, which was put in place in 2008, prevented her from getting married or even having another child.

‘I want to be able to get married and have a baby,’ she said during a conservatorship hearing. ‘I was told right now in the conservatorship, I’m not able to get married or have a baby, I have an IUD inside of myself right now so I don’t get pregnant.’

The terms of Spears’ conservatorship turned over control of her estate to various figures, including her father Jamie Spears and conservator of her person Jodi Montgomery, who succeeded her father.

However, according to experts who spoke to Rolling Stone, California law wouldn’t have barred Britney from getting married or having children unless there was an explicit order to do so.

Shocking: Britney Spears, 40, astounded her fans when she testified in June 2021 that she couldn’t get married or have a baby due to her conservatorship; seen with father Jamie

Under the rules of the arrangement, the singer was not able to enter into any contracts, according to legal experts who spoke to Variety.

That means that she could accept an informal marriage proposal from Sam Asghari, but she would have been prevented from marrying as long as the conservatorship was in place, unless she got the permission of her conservator.

If she had tried to sign a marriage license, it likely would have been invalidated if the conservatorship didn’t first give her permission.

Confusion: Though some legal experts said she likely couldn’t get married without permission, others told Rolling Stone that she could as long as there wasn’t an order barring it; seen in 2016

In the dark: Britney court-appointed lawyer Samuel Ingham III came under fire for allegedly never telling Spears that she could ask to end her conservatorship

The fact that the singer believed she couldn’t marry or have children raised troubling questions about what kind of information and advice she was receiving from her court-appointed attorney Samule Ingham III, who began representing her in 2008.

Despite the restrictive conditions of the conservatorship, Ingham III reportedly never took steps to end the arrangement, and he eventually stepped down in July 2021, following his client’s bombshell testimony.’

He was previously lambasted by experts after Spears testified that she didn’t know she was allowed to petition to end her conservatorship.

The issue is now a moot point for Spears, who is free to control her life and estate. After Ingham resigned, her new lawyer Mathew Rosengart represented Britney before a judge ended the conservatorship in November 2021.

Britney Spears’ love history: Justin Timberlake heartbreak, 55-hour Vegas marriage and toxic divorce and custody battle with K-Fed that ended in a 5150 psychiatric hold

Britney Spears finally tied the knot with her longtime partner Sam Asghari, 28, on the evening of June 9, 2022.

The 40-year-old songstress and her boyfriend have been going strong since linking up in 2016, but their love follows of string of short-lived romances for the pop superstar.

Below is a history of Britney’s relationships going back to her earliest days as a rising performer.

Donald ‘Reg’ Jones (1995–1997)

Britney got her first official boyfriend, Reg Jones, when she was only 14 and he was 17.

In Lynne Spears’ 2008 memoir Through The Storm, Britney’s mother claimed that it was actually Jones whom her daughter lost her virginity to, not her future boyfriend Justin Timberlake.

In 2001, Jones put up two letter than the singer had written him while she was a teen, include one in which she broke up with him.

Justin Timberlake (1998–2002)

Britney’s first serious relationship was with her former Mickey Mouse Club costar Justin Timberlake, who was then part of NSYNC.

Following their 2002 split, the singer publicly blamed Spears for their break up and used his ‘heartbreak’ to promote his music. A lookalike actress was also used to represent Spears in his video for Cry Me A River, which fans took to be a breakup song about their relationship.

Timberlake later wrote in an open apology that he was ‘deeply sorry’ and would ‘take accountability’ admitting that he had ‘failed’ her, after their relationship came under fresh scrutiny following the release of documentaries looking into Spears’ conservatorship.

Wade Robson (2002)

The Toxic singer reportedly moved on in the wake of her split from Timberlake with choreographer Wade Robson, who worked for both her and Justin’s group NSYNC.

Although it was never been confirmed by any of the trio, at the time it was rumoured that Wade was the real reason for the Justin and Britney split.

Yet their relationship was short lived and Britney and Wade had split within the year.

Fred Durst (2003)

After the breakup with Robson, Limp Bizkit frontman Fred Durst claimed that he dated Britney, though she denied that they ever had a relationship.

The couple spent time together when working on songs for Britney’s new album.

‘It just became a fiasco of madness,’ Durst told MTV of the alleged breakup. ‘[But] I always stay true to my heart and true to everything I did and my intentions, and I am in no way a liar.’

Conflicting statements: After the breakup with Robson, Limp Bizkit frontman Fred Durst (pictured in 2003) claimed that he dated Britney, though she denied that they ever had a relationship; seen in 2019

Jared Leto (2003)

Britney was also rumored around this time to have dated Jared Leto, but he never confirmed the alleged romance and she denied that they were eve ran item.

After they were seen together, she said they were just ‘really good friends.’

The dating rumours started after fans theorised that Spears had gone after Leto because he was Cameron Diaz’s ex and Diaz, at the time, was dating Spears’ ex Timberlake.

Rumors: Around 2003, Britney was rumored to be dating Jared Leto (pictured in 2003) after they were seen together, but he never confirmed it and she denied it; seen in March in Austin, TX

Colin Farrell (2003)

There was clearly something going on between Britney and actor Colin Farrell in 2003, when they were seen kissing at the premiere of his film The Recruit, where they also walked the red carpet.

However, he shrugged the affectionate display off and said he was ‘just a 26-year-old guy who’s single and having a good time.’

While their fling may only have lasted a week, Farrell memorialized their relationship by sending Spears a shirt that read: ‘I slept with Colin Farrell and all I got was this lousy T-shirt.’

Nothing to see here: Colin Farrell and Britney were seen kissing in 2003 at the premiere of his film The Recruit, but he denied there was anything serious going on between them

Columbus Short (2003)

Britney dated within her own organization when she hooked up with her backup dance Columbus Short in 2003.

Short, who subsequently starred on Scandal, later claimed that he overheard Spears’ parents Lynne and Jamie Spears refer to him by the N-word when she was on speaker phone with them, though he didn’t specify who said it and they both denied using the word.

Columbus claimed to have only had sex with her once, and he claimed he was fired after he failed to reciprocate her affections.

Offensive language: Britney began dating her backup dance Columbus Short in 2003. He claimed he overheard one of her parents refer to him by the N-word, though both denied the incident

Jason Alexander (2004)

Britney’s first (brief) marriage was to Jason Alexander, who had been her friend since childhood. He ended up crashing her wedding to Sam on the morning of the nuptials.

The couple tied the knot on a whim in the early morning hours on January 3, 2004 during a ceremony at the Little White Wedding Chapel in Las Vegas, Nevada. They were both 22 years old at the time.

Their marriage was annulled 55 hours later, which Alexander later claimed was forced by Britney’s mother, Lynne, and Britney’s management. Following the annulment, Spears said in an interview: ‘It was me being silly, being rebellious.’

Quick turnaround: Britney’s first (brief) marriage was to Jason Alexander, who had been her friend since childhood. They eloped in Las Vegas at the Little White Wedding Chapel, but they famously got the union annulled after just 55 hours

Yet 18 years after their union it seems Alexander hasn’t lost his feelings for Spears, as just hours before she was was due to marry her long-term partner Sam Asghari, 28, at her home Alexander broke onto the premises to crash the wedding.

Britney’s first husband Jason Alexander has been booked in to jail after dramatically livestreaming himself crashing her wedding at her Thousand Oaks mansion.

Jason is now in the custody of the Ventura Sheriff’s Department having been charged with trespassing, vandalism and two batteries after a couple of altercations with Britney’s security guards.

Minutes before he was apprehended, Alexander managed to broadcast himself on Instagram as he ran through hillside trails, as he approached the rear of Spears’ home.

Chaos: While the celebrity guests seemed in good spirits, the wedding got off to fraught start when Britney’s ex-husband Jason Alexander was arrested for trespassing

The 40-year-old was easily able to scale a fence, descend a rocky hillside and slip inside the wedding venue, all-the-while telling security exactly who he was, and why he was there – just hours before the fairytale ceremony got underway.

Alexander’s arrest is the third arrest in 13 months. Police sources revealed he also has a felony warrant for larceny in another county.

He was last in police custody for driving under the influence in January 2021 and breaking security protocols at an airport in August. Alexander was also arrested previously for violating an order of protection and stalking an unidentified woman in December 2021.

On Thursday night, Spears’ attorney revealed he was ‘absolutely livid’ after Alexander crashed the pop star’s wedding venue and demanded he be locked up.

Kevin Federline (2004–2007)

The songstress’ next relationship also resulted in a marriage.

Britney and Kevin Federline, a backup dancer, would go on to share her two sons: Sean, 16, and Jayden, 15.

The couple divorced in 2007, and it was her struggles with custody that factored into the creation of her conservatorship.

In January 2008, she locked herself in a bathroom with the children when it was time to return them to their father. The police were subsequently called, and Spears was put on a 5150 psychiatric hold.

Marriage no. 2: Spears was married to her second husband Kevin Federline from 2004–2007. In January 2008, she was put on a psychiatric hold after refusing to return their sons Sean and Jayden to him (pictured in 2005)

J. R. Rotem (2007)

Spears hit the dating scene quickly following her divorce when she got together with the music producer J. R. Rotem, who produced her song Everybody.

Following their fling, Rotem shocked with a graphic kiss and tell interview, crudely announcing ‘I f**ked Britney wheelbarrow style – It was tractor style.’

Reflecting on their union, Rotem later said: ‘It was kind of a stupid phase I was going through, where I wouldn’t say that I was being a bad person but I would say that I was being not very genuine to who I am and what it is that I’m supposed to do.’

Passing through: Britney hit the dating scene quickly following her divorce when she got together with the music producer J. R. Rotem, though the relationship appears to have been short-lived

Isaac Cohen (2007)

In the same year as her fling with Rotem, Spears began dating male model Isaac Cohen.

At the time, her fans noted that Cohen noted only looked like her ex-husband Kevin, but he even favored similar clothing to the dancer.

Their breakup was described as ‘amicable,’ and Cohen later said of their relationship: ‘By the time I met Britney she was burnt out. She knew she had been drinking and partying as a way to try to banish the bad stuff from her life.

‘Far from the trashy drunk, I saw a very shy, sweet girl who was just desperately sad about what had happened with her marriage.’

Lookalike: In the same year as her fling with Rotem, Spears began dating male model Isaac Cohen. At the time, her fans noted that Cohen noted only looked like her ex-husband K Fed, but he even favored similar clothing to the dancer

Howie Day (2007)

Britney reportedly met the singer–songwriter Howie Day while both were at the Promises rehab center in Malibu.

Life & Style reported at the time that Britney’s mother Lynne was concerned about the relationship, which didn’t last long.

Spears’ second husband K Fed also didn’t approve of the relationship, branding Day ‘trash,’ and adding that Britney had to ‘head to the dump’ to meet Day while in rehab.

Adnan Ghalib (2007–2008)

The pop star shocked her fans and family when she began dating the paparazzo Adnan Ghalib in 2007, despite the fact that he had long been on her tail hunting for the perfect photo.

Ghalib claimed in 2008 that he had a sex tape featuring Spears in an apparent bid to shop it around, though he later claimed his statements were fabricated, according to The Daily Beast.

Britney’s father Jamie successful won a restraining order to keep Ghalib away from his daughter by claiming that the photographer alerted paparazzi to Britney’s whereabouts and then got a fee from them.

Shocker: The pop star surprised fans and family when she began dating the paparazzo Adnan Ghalib in 2007, despite the fact that he had long been on her tail hunting for the perfect photo

Jason Trawick (2009–2013)

One of Spears’ longest relationship was with her former agent, Jason Trawick.

In 2021, rumors spread claiming the two had secretly married and then divorce in 2012 after records showing her conservatorship put a lawyer on retainer shortly before their 2013 breakup.

However, Trawick denied that they were ever married, and no marriage license — or divorce — was ever filed.

David Lucado (2013–2014)

Britney and David Lucado began dating shortly after her split from Trawick, though the relationship only lasted about a year.

According to TMZ, Britney dumped Lucado after she discovered a video showing Lucado ‘making out with a woman and dancing with her.’

Lucado didn’t take the split well, with a representative telling TMZ: ‘David is very, very in love with Britney. This is unfortunate and he hopes that it all works out.’

Charlie Ebsersol (2014–2015)

Spears continued to date within the entertainment industry, though her new boyfriend Charlie Ebersol was a film and television producer.

Speaking about their romance Spears said at the time: ‘I thought he was really adorable and she said he was good to people, so I went for it… There was something about him that made me feel really peaceful and at ease.’

Sources claimed to Hollywood Life after their breakup that the two separated after Britney’s father Jamie suggested he wasn’t a good match for her.

Sam Asghari (2016–present)

Sam Asghari, an aspiring actor, has been by the pop star’s side since 2016, making their relationship her longest to date.

She met Sam in 2016 when he appeared in her Slumber Party music video, and the two quickly hit it off after that.

They went Instagram official in January 2017, and Sam was by her side amid the battle to end her long-running conservatorship.

Spears announced their engagement on September 12, 2021, and she followed the good news up by having her conservatorship terminated in November of that year.

In April 2022, the couple announced they were expecting their first child together, but Britney revealed just a month later that she had suffered a miscarriage.

‘Perhaps we should have waited to announce until we were further along however we were overly excited to share the good news,’ she wrote on Instagram.
