CBS News Wants Out Of Charlie Rose Lawsuit!

CBS News wants out of the lawsuit filed against Charlie Rose—and the network–over his alleged sexual harassment, The Blast has reported.

The network’s legal eagles claim CBS News isn’t responsible for former CBS anchor Rose’s supposedly sleazy behavior, according to court papers.

Disgraced Rose was fired from the network after his scandal.

In May, Rose was slapped with a lawsuit by three former female staffers, all in their mid-20s.

As has reported, Katherine Brooks Harris, Sydney McNeal and Yuqing “Chelsea” Wei have sued the disgraced former 60 Minutes host and the network for sexual harassment during their time working for the then-76-year-old.

According to New York Supreme Court documents viewed by Radar, the women, all in their 20s, claim Rose subjected them “to repeated, ongoing and unlawful physical and verbal sexual harassment, including without limitation: sexual touching; sexual comments; and sexual advances.”

Harris said Rose “sexually touched” her by “placing his hands on her thigh and kissing her cheek” during a required dinner, and called other women “prostitutes.”

He allegedly asked the women about their “sex lives,” and demanded they share sordid details with him.

The shamed newsman allegedly told Harris and McNeal they should “have sex with each other” as part of his “sexual fantasies,” and crudely told them not to swim naked together while on an errand at his Bellport, New York, home.

Wei said he called her “China Doll” as a “fetish” nickname.

Rose was a big star on the eye network as in addition to 60 Minutes, he co-anchored CBS This Morning from 2012 to 2017 and also substituted on CBS Evening News.

From 1991 to 2017, he was also the host and executive producer of the talk show Charlie Rose on PBS and Bloomberg LP.

CBS fired Rose in November 2017 and his talk show on PBS was cancelled the day after The Washington Post ran an article about his alleged sexual harassment of various women.

Now, in a new filing obtained by The Blast, CBS News filed a motion to dismiss all claims against them in the case, saying they did nothing wrong. The network pointed out that they terminated him as soon as learning of his scandal.

Plus, CBS News has contended in legal docs that one of the women suing never even worked at CBS and another was not an employee at the time Rose engaged in the alleged harassment.

“CBS cannot be held liable for Rose’s alleged misdeeds,” they stated, demanding to be dismissed from the case.

The network is awaiting a ruling from a judge.

According to the Post story, 14 CBS News employees and 13 women who worked with Rose elsewhere claimed he sexually harassed them.

But Rose, who was spotted on September 1 at Senator John McCain‘s memorial service, told the Post, “Your story is unfair and inaccurate.”
