Dan Osborne has admitted his marriage to Jacqueline Jossa made him "unhappy" as the pair gear up to welcome their second baby together – albeit as single parents.
The former TOWIE star, who already has four-year-old son Teddy from his previous relationship and daughter Ella, three, with Jac, confessed that "life is too short" to stay with a partner who couldn’t make him happy.
"I’m still staying with a mate. I left because we were arguing and it is such a waste of energy," he told Daily Star Sunday.
"The way I look at life is every day spent unhappy is a wasted day, and we were both having a lot of unhappy days. I still obviously care for Jacqueline but if we can’t make each other happy then we shouldn’t stay together. Life is too short."
The beefcake, who was axed from TOWIE when toxic audio recordings of him making violent threats towards his ex Megan Tomlin emerged, said what he went through with Teddy’s mum was enough to make him rethink his short-lived marriage.
"I went through hell with my ex," Dan went on. "After that, the most important thing for me is to be happy."
And he’s vowed to put himself first, revealing he’d rather go out with his mates than stay at home with his wife and children in a toxic atmosphere.
"We argue at home so I go out because I don’t want to be home arguing when I can be enjoying myself with mates," the reality star added.
"I will move back to help before the birth and with the baby, but I don’t know after that. The main priority is the kids."
Jacqueline was recently dropped from EastEnders, where she’d been playing Lauren Branning for eight years.
She said at the time that the killing off of her character had been an unpleasant shock and said she hadn’t been happy to hear the news.
After her professional blow came the personal one, as Dan left her earlier this month following a series of furious rows.
They’d only found out they were expecting again late last year, as Jacqueline told a glossy mag earlier this year that they hadn’t been planning a baby .
Dan said at the time he was "quite scared" about having three kids under five, adding: "We hadn’t been trying so it was a huge shock. I think I’m still getting my head around it. Kids are a blessing but having three children is going to be a big responsibility."
Now that Jacqueline is more than eight months into her pregnancy, the couple will have to work out whether they’re going to be single parents or reconcile and try to live as one family after their split.
While Dan seems to have indicated he’s made up his mind to stay single, Jac has been spotted still wearing her wedding ring – and a source revealed she was hoping to work things out.
The pair married just 11 months ago, last June, in the luxurious surroundings of Delamere Manor – the old Cheshire home of Gary Barlow.
They’d previously postponed the wedding date after getting engaged in June 2015, because Jac’s beloved grandmother died.
Since their split, Dan has furiously denied there’s another woman on the scene and blasted reports of him flirting in a nightclub with a lady.
He also hit back at claims he was ‘cosying up’ with Love Island star Gabby Allen after pictures of them in their swimwear lounging on a private yacht emerged.
"Whenever a relationship goes through tough times etc.. why is it always the man that gets stick..?" Dan tweeted the day after their break-up announcement.
"When in ‘public eye’, worst part is, the people trying to give me stick etc are people that DO NOT KNOW ME, do not know the situation.. so can please piss off…. appreciated."
He added: "Also… to the media making their usual crap up…It had absolutely nothing to do with me working away, going away anywhere or anything to do with me having a laugh with friends on a boat… Suppose it makes an interesting read for the viewers though eh."
