Dan Walker, 45, who competed on Strictly Come Dancing last year, reacted to Kaye Adams’ awkward moment following her exit with Kai Widdrington last night. The 59-year-old failed to win over three of the four judges with her Charleston routine in the dance-off against Matt Goss and Nadiya Bychkova.

Following her final moment on the show, the Loose Women star experienced an awkward moment back at the hotel.

She tweeted: “Just ordered room service in my hotel.

“The nice lady who brought it asked me ‘any idea who went out of @bbcstrictly tonight?’ I said ‘me’ awkward silence.”

Agreeing with Kaye, Dan replied saying the encounter sounded like “major league awkwardness”.

However, he went on to tell the presenter that he enjoyed watching her on the show, adding: “I hope you made some good friends and have some lovely memories.”

Reflecting on her time on the dance floor, Kaye went on to tweet: “Well, it was a much shorter journey than I’d hoped for but a journey all the same!

“I’ll be talking more about it all on @bbcstrictly It Takes Two tomorrow and on the podcast when I’ve had more time to process it all, but right now I want to say a massive thank you to @Kaiwidd.”

She went on to call the 27-year-old dancer an “absolute gent” who made her “two left feet” into dancing ones.

The Loose Women panellist added: “I’m just sorry we didn’t get to dance together longer.

“And to my Strictly family. I’m going to miss you all! Keep dancing!”

Kaye and Kai were third from  the bottom on the leaderboard following two weeks worth of scores from the judges.

Tony Adams, who had the lowest score, managed to skip the dance-off.

Dan was paired up with Nadiya and got all the way to the quarter final in 2021.

Last month, he dished out advice to her new dance partner Matt.

Speaking on 5 News, he said: “Sometimes before you actually do the show, you’re in front of the cameras and they just ask you to dance.

“That was my most uncomfortable moment ever.”

Matt replied, joking: “You’ve made me very, very nervous!”

Trying to reassure him however, Dan told him to “just trust your professional”.

This weekend, the remaining 14 pairings will perform to movie tracks.

Strictly Come Dancing continues Saturday at 6.30pm on BBC One.
