Taylor Lautner fans are upset – and trending on social media!
The 28-year-old actor, who starred in Robert Rodriguez‘s 3-D movie The Adventures of Sharkboy and Lavagirl in 2005, was nowhere to be found on Netflix‘s announcement of follow-up film We Can Be Heroes on Tuesday (November 17).
The Netflix Film Twitter account shared stills from the upcoming movie, which showed Taylor Dooley returning to her role as Lavagirl. However, a masked man who does not resemble Taylor Lautner is seen playing adult Sharkboy. A caption from the stills says that the actor playing Sharkboy is JJ Dashnaw. Interestingly, Jeffrey J. Dashnaw is a stunt coordinator who worked on the original film.
Fans on Twitter were outraged upon discovering this fact, calling the new actor an “imposter” and pointing out that Taylor was seemingly not returning for the follow-up.
In the movie, the heroes have become parents since the 2005 original, with Vivien Lyra Blair , who played the girl in 2018 movie Bird Box, playing their daughter.
Priyanka Chopra, Christopher McDonald and Christian Slater are expected to star in the upcoming film.
