Jamie Lynn Spears has shed light on navigating teen pregnancy, seeking an emancipation at 16 and being ‘locked away from her sister’ while she was expecting.

In 2007, Britney, 40, shaved her head while suffering from a breakdown in 2007 and was subsequently hospitalised, shortly before, Jamie, 30, found out she was expecting a baby with ex-fiancé Casey Aldridge leading to her being ‘locked up’.

The Zoey 101 actress has been blazing the promo trail with her upcoming memoir, leading to very public spats with her enraged sister. Her latest insights into the tell-all has seen her speak about her well-documented teen motherhood.

During Monday’s episode of Call Her Daddy with Alexandra Cooper, the mother-of-two, who welcomed her first child Maddie in 2008 and her second Ivey in 2018, did not hold back as she reflected on the most challenging years of her life.

Not easy: Jamie Lynn Spears has shed light on navigating teen pregnancy, seeking an emancipation at 16 and being ‘locked away from her sister’ while she was expecting

When asked how ‘things spiraled out of control’ after telling her team that she was pregnant, Jamie Lynn said her parents became increasingly controlling.

As they attempted to monitor her every move, including when she was able to see the father of her child, the Sweet Magnolias star admitted she would lie about going to doctors’ appointments to ‘go meet with a lawyer.’

Before going through with being legally freed of her parents’ guardianship before giving birth, the author said her mom and dad kept her locked ‘away like a princess.’

Despite being ready to file the papers, Jamie Lynn and her mother Lynn reached an agreement, which allowed the then-teenager to purchase her first home.

Still, the months leading up to welcoming her daughter Maddie, now 13, were lonely as she was cut off from the world, including Britney.

When asked about Britney’s reaction to finding out she had a baby by reading a copy of OK!, Jamie Lynn confessed she was shocked her parents never informed her.

She said: ‘Britney was obviously going through her own s**t, but I think I was so absorbed in my own s**t that I couldn’t even think about that…

‘I was so consumed with like, you know, I wanted to be around the dad.At first, that was something that, maybe, was harmful and hurtful to her, but I was hurting’.

At that point, she was confused why Britney was not with her and didn’t come ‘save’ her.

Cooper then brought up that ‘a month after’ Jamie Lynn’s pregnancy announcement: ‘Britney is hospitalized and held for medical evaluation twice in one month.’

Jamie Lynn insists she doesn’t know why as she did ‘not have anything to do with that world.’

Candid: During Monday’s episode of Call Her Daddy with Alexandra Cooper , the mom-of-two did not hold back as she reflected on the most difficult years of her life

‘I was so burned out on myself. I was not speaking to anyone,’ she answered. ‘I was kind of just an afterthought, like they [her parents] didn’t tell me anything.’

She continued: ‘I had no idea. I feel like I saw it like the rest of the world and I was never told the details of anything that happened.’

An excerpt from her book revealed the depths of the issue, reading: ‘Everyone had their own opinion about what was best for me…

”There was lots of chatter, but none of it felt right to me. [They said]: “It will kill your career. You are just too young. You don’t know what you’re doing. There are pills you can take. We can help you take care of this problem…

”Think about what you’re doing to your family. Doesn’t the family have enough to deal with? I know a doctor. There are procedures that remedy mistakes like this. You don’t have to do this.”

On keeping the news secret from Britney, she went on: ‘Home felt like a prison without a smartphone or connection to the outside world…

‘My team believed everyone outside of the inner circle was a potential threat. They went so far as hiding my pregnancy from my sister, claiming, ‘It’s too risky to tell Britney about the baby’…

‘I needed her more than ever and she wasn’t able [to] help me in my most vulnerable time.’

On her parents’ resistance for her to move in with her boyfriend, she revealed the threat of emancipation was her only option: ‘My family denied my attempts to be independent and left me with no other choice than to threaten to file for emancipation with the courts…

‘I spent days agonizing with my pending decision. But I followed my gut and instructed my new lawyer to go ahead and draw up the petition.’ She later decided not to follow through on the petition to avoid negative press.

Back in November her sister Britney’s life took a dramatic turn for the better on Friday, as a judge ended her 13-year conservatorship – opening up a whole world of opportunities.

Earlier in the interview, Jamie Lynn admitted when she was 11 she first saw signs that her sister was suffering from ‘debilitating exhaustion.’

‘Britney was changing in front of my eyes,’ she reflected. ‘I was still too young to comprehend her struggles, but I was old enough to recognize destructive behaviors, similar to our father’s. Something was different with my sister,’ Jamie Lynn went on.

Taking control of her life: As they attempted to monitor her every move, including when she was able to see the father of her child, the Sweet Magnolias star star admitted she would lie about going to doctors’ appointments to ‘go meet with a lawyer’

She admitted: ‘I didn’t have the courage to speak out.’

When asked about the changes in her sister’s behavior, Jamie Lynn said she ‘was wanting to escape us [their family] a little bit more’ and was going through a ‘party stage.’

Jamie Lynn also recounted a scary ‘incident’ when he mother hit her repeatedly with a large beaded purse with a camera inside, after she was ‘mean’ and acted like an ‘a**hole’ to her.

During the episode, Jamie Lynn discussed how her sister was ‘so sad’ following her split from Justin Timberlake back in 2002.

Jamie admitted she still ‘cries’ remembering how heartbroken her sister was over the ordeal.

‘Britney was changing in front of my eyes,’ she reflected. ‘I was still too young to comprehend her struggles, but I was old enough to recognize destructive behaviors, similar to ours father’s. Something was different with sister,’ Jamie Lynn went on; seen in 2016

‘I think everyone thought it was forever,’ Jamie Lynn said. ‘I was so sad, first off because my sister was so sad, but that, too, was the first time I saw [that] maybe I didn’t know everything about the relationship.

‘Perhaps they were protecting me and obviously why would they talk to me about anything.’

Jamie Lynn was only in her early teens when her big sister split up from Justin after four years together in 2002.

The Zoey 101 actress says she ‘truly’ does not know why the couple broke up.

But her heart went out to Britney following the release of Timberlake’s breakup track Cry Me A River, which all but accused the pop star of cheating on him and included a video of a Britney lookalike reaping the consequences of infidelity.

‘I thought how heartbreaking it must have been for my sister when Cry Me a River came out,’ she said. ‘Don’t get me wrong, like, that’s a way to launch your solo career, right? That’s a way to do it, but I felt really sad.

‘And my sister, she wrote that song Everytime and she’s beyond brilliant with anything creative and she picked that song out on the piano and she wrote it and it still makes me cry because I think about how heartbroken she was, because that was her song and that was his song.’

Last year Justin published an apology to Britney after the release of the Framing Britney Spears documentary, which explored her conservatorship. She has since been freed from the legal arrangement.

Difficult upbringing: When asked how ‘things spiraled out of control’ after telling her loved ones, Jamie Lynn noted her parents’ behavior became increasingly controlling

‘I am deeply sorry for the times in my life where my actions contributed to the problem, where I spoke out of turn or did not speak up for what was right,’ he posted to Instagram.

‘I understand that I fell short in these moments and in many others and benefited from a system that condones misogyny and racism,’ he said. ‘I specifically want to apologize to Britney Spears and Janet Jackson both individually, because I care for and respect these women and I know I failed.’

In a teaser for a part two interview, Jamie Lynn, who has been locked in a feud with her big sister as she prepares to release her tell-all, also claimed to have a text message from Britney which clears her name.

Lots to discuss: Britney’s heartbreak wasn’t the only topic discussed on the upcoming interview, set to drop Monday at midnight EST

‘You have a text message that clears your name from your sister. Can you pull out your phone and read that recent text from Britney,’ the host asks.

Jamie Lynn then asks for her phone and carefully reads the screen before saying something off the microphone.

After a moment, she speaks into the microphone. ‘She says to me,’ she begins before the screen cuts to black.

‘I thought how heartbreaking it must have been for my sister when Cry Me a River came out,’ Spears said of the track

Rift: The actress has been feuding with her sister as she prepares to release her memoir Things I Should Have Said, which contains shocking claims about Britney

The actress’ sister has vocally disapproved of Jamie Lynn’s upcoming memoir Things I Should Have Said, which contains shocking claims about her.

The claims Jamie made in the book include allegations Britney once locked them in a room together while holding a knife – claims the pop star has denied.

Jamie Lynn made the claims in her new book, where she describes her sister’s behavior as ‘erratic, paranoid and, spiraling.’

Hitting back via Twitter on Thursday, Britney wrote: ‘Jamie Lynn .. congrats babe! You’ve stooped to a whole new level of LOW .. I’ve never been around you ever with a knife or would I ever even think to do such !!!’

‘The only knife I ever saw you with at home was cutting the biggest pieces of squash I ever saw in my life and it was way too big for me to cut… So please please stop with these crazy lies for the Hollywood books !!!’

‘NOW and only NOW I do know only a scum person would make up such things about someone… I’m actually very confused about you making that up because it’s honestly not like you at all !!!’

She went on: ‘Around the kids ???? Jamie Lynn, seriously ??? Come on !!! Congrats on introducing your older sister the concept of getting LOW … LOWER … LOWEST … because you win on that one, babe !!!’

The shocking knife claim was revealed during a conversation with Juju Chang on Wednesday’s Nightline, where Jamie Lynn was asked why she included it in her memoir.

Speaking up: Britney also released a message on Twitter where she said she loved her sister ‘unconditionally’ and backtracked on her ‘scum’ remarks. She also said it was ‘tacky’ for a family to ‘fight publicly like this’

Talking about the alleged incident further, Jamie Lynn added: ‘I was scared. That was a moment I had. I also was fearful to really say anything because I didn’t want to upset anybody, but I also was so upset that she didn’t feel safe.’

In a separate alleged incident, Jamie Lynn claimed Britney began ‘screaming’ in her face, years later.

‘She cursed at me and so I just walked out of the room, we’re all family, I’m not trying to argue. When I tried to remove myself from the situation, that’s when I guess she got really angry and my oldest daughter tried to mediate the situation. I hated that,’ Jamie Lynn claimed.

‘That’s not what you’re supposed to do, you’re 12. [My parents] told me I can’t upset Britney. I’m like, you saw me and my children get upset, when will that matter?’

On Saturday Jamie attempted to settle the animosity between her and Britney with a message that was shared to her Instagram Story.

Britney also released a message on Twitter where she said she loved her sister ‘unconditionally’ and backtracked on her ‘scum’ remarks.  She also said it was ‘tacky’ for a family to ‘fight publicly like this.’

She wrote in the lengthy message: ‘Jamie Lynn … I don’t think your book is about me at all … I said some harsh things because you obviously hurt me by the things you are making up about me !!!!

‘When I said only a scum person would make up things like that about someone, I could have sworn I said ‘but you’re not’… but it doesn’t make sense at all to me what you are saying!!!’
