Jeff Brazier on ‘tremendously difficult’ decade following Jade Goody’s death

Jeff Brazier has revealed the decade since ex Jade Goody’s death has been ‘tremendously difficult’ on himself and their two sons, Freddie and Bobby.

The Big Brother star died in 2009, following a battle with cervical cancer, with her now-teenage sons just children when she passed.

And, opening up about their family life, the 40-year-old explained that, while the last 10 years have been tough, his kids have ‘grown into wonderful young men’

‘There’s been ups and downs, but we’ve come through it together,’ he said. ‘I’m hugely proud of them.

The TV presenter also revealed the anniversary of Jade’s death ‘stirs up a lot’ for his family – especially as she died on Mother’s Day.

‘The anniversary is hard every year and also coincides with Mother’s Day, by a cruel coincidence,’ he continued. ‘It stirs up a lot for the boys. But whether it’s 10 years, 20 years or 30 years, we’ll always be talking about Jade because ultimately, that’s where the boys came from.

‘My job is to be respectful to her and to her memory by ensuring she lives on through her kids,’ he added to The Mail paper in Barrow-in-Furness.

Today would have been Jade’s 38th Birthday so we had a small gathering and raised a glass in her memory. My heart aches for all of the love and affection the boys have had to go without in her absence and for all she missed of their childhood, those precious stolen moments deprived of a fiercely strong and proud Mother. My thanks to those that came along as well as those who couldn’t make it always showing the boys that they have many good people supporting their every step. It was also Bobbys 16th this week so we celebrated getting him there in one piece and all the promise his future holds. Lastly bless Fred for asking his Uncle Tys if he had been working under the bonnet of a few car’s today. Always making us laugh and @tysonplaymaker always educating us on the fashion front 🤷🏼‍♂️💥❤️🙌🏻 . . . #HBDJade #HBDBob #Family #Support #Love #Guidance #Effort #Appreciation #Remember

‘I don’t have to do much because it’s impossible to take that away as she was so unique, special and important, and hugely successful in many ways.’

Jeff and Jade split before she died, with the mum-of-two marrying Jack Tweed soon after.

But Jeff – who tied the knot with Kate Dwyer last year – insisted it’s going to be ‘impossible’ for his sons to forget every memory they have of her, as he continues to teach them about the woman she was.

In a candid chat with Metro.co.uk, he told us: ‘I don’t feel a responsibility to [speak about her] publicly, but there absolutely is a responsibility for me to do that privately.

‘Every time I take them to the grave, every time we talk about her, every time they see their godparents, you’re being respectful to her and I guess doing what I would hope she would have done for me if the roles were reversed.

‘It’s impossible for them to forget and not have those memories, she was far too important.’
