The Good Morning Britain (GMB) star has been a fixture on ITV for more than 20 years. She has starred on GMTV, Daybreak, Lorraine and even I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!. Over the past year, Garraway has documented the struggles of her husband Derek Draper and their family since he contracted coronavirus.

The 53-year-old, whose memoir The Power Of Hope is released today, experienced the heartache faced by many families around the world.

Since the pandemic began more than 127,000 people in the UK have died out of 3.14 million worldwide.

During that time, Garraway has also been outspoken about the Sussexes and their departure from senior royal roles.

After the death of Prince Philip on April 9, the star analysed a statement released by Prince William about his grandfather.

In the touching tribute, William wrote: “Catherine and I will continue to do what he would have wanted and will support The Queen in the years ahead.

“I will miss my Grandpa, but I know he would want us to get on with the job.”

Garraway questioned whether the remarks “might be a bit of a dig… at his brother for seeming to have stepped back” during a debate on GMB.

The ITV star has been a fan of Harry’s for many years and in a 2015 episode of the show joked about having a crush on him.

It followed a discussion about the Duke’s relationships and particularly his “on-off girlfriend” Chelsy Davy – prior to meeting Meghan Markle.

Garraway proposed taking Harry for lunch with Susanna Reid “to sort him out”.

She joked about them being matchmakers before Reid claimed Harry preferred blondes, not brunettes.

Reid quipped: “You may be in there!”

Garraway playfully pushed Reid for comedic effect before she made a joke about her and Harry’s fictional romance.

She said: “Don’t bother with you, I’m just going out for lunch with Prince Harry.”

When Prince William and Kate Middleton tied the knot in 2011, Garraway picked up on a remark about Harry.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge celebrate their 10th wedding anniversary today.

She cited former GMB correspondent Derek King’s quote about the Duke of Sussex in a tweet.

It read: “‘@TheRossKing: Did Harry just say to William I fancy Pippa!’”

Garraway branded the quote “cheeky!” but after the royal wedding, many speculated about a romance between the pair.

The day after William and Kate’s engagement was announced – November 17th, 2010 – the ITV tweeted again.

In an unusual response, Garraway wrote: “Ok sum luv sum (sic) hate royal wedding news.”

She claimed to have “an antidote” for those who hated updates about members of the Firm getting married.

Garraway posted a photograph of herself with the rapper Tinchy Stryder in the Daybreak studios – ahead of him appearing on the show.

In March this year, Garraway addressed the departure of Piers Morgan from GMB after comments about the Sussexes’ interview with Oprah.

In one of them, he said: “I’m sorry, I don’t believe a word she (Meghan Markle) says.”

Shortly after being called out by weather presenter Alex Beresford, he stormed off the show.

The next day, Garraway and Ben Shephard presented GMB and revealed Piers was not going to return to the show.

She explained: “He’s decided to quit and as he put it himself, fall on the sword of free speech.”

Garraway described Piers as “very passionate” and hinted at his argumentative nature.

She said: “That’s the thing about Piers, isn’t it, he’s very passionate, he does fly kites and have debates but it always comes from a place of authenticity

“He always believes in what he says and he’s left.”
