‘We had a mature conversation:’ MC Harvey claims ex-wife Alesha Dixon ‘forgave him for cheating after they reconnected at his stepfather’s funeral’

MC Harvey has claimed his ex-wife Alesha Dixon forgave him for cheating on her after they reconnected at his stepfather’s funeral. 

The rapper, real name Michael Harvey Jr, 41, married the Britain’s Got Talent judge, 42, in 2005 but divorced the year after when it was revealed he was having an affair with his West End stage co-star Javine Hylton.  

Talking on the podcast Anything Goes with James English, MC Harvey said he spoke with Alesha at the funeral four years ago and then had a ‘mature’ phone conversation where they wished each other well.

He said: ‘Four years ago my stepfather died, and she came to my mother’s to pay her respects with her partner. Isn’t that unbelievable.’ 

‘When my stepfather died the whole of South London was in my mum’s house. My mum knows all the bad boys, she’s a youth worker, so was he, so they were very connected with the community.

‘So when she pulled up aside my mum’s all the goons are outside my mum’s, that’s how much he was loved, she’s pulled up in an Aston Martin, with her partner.’

He continued: ‘When Alesha turned out with her partner, I went to the boys, look after him show him love and the boys were like, ‘One hundred percent.’ 

‘She then sent £500 worth of flowers to my mother to put in his funeral car.’

A representative for Alesha has been contacted for a comment by MailOnline.  

MC Harvey also said that the pair called after the funeral, with Alesha telling him she just wanted him to be happy.

He said: ‘Alesha then rang me, six months before I met my wife, and she said, ‘I just want you to be happy Harv.’

‘I apologised to her about what happened in the past, we had a mature conversation.

‘We talked about our kids, I said to her ‘Your kids are beautiful.’ She said ‘Your kids are beautiful.’

He continued: ‘She said ‘You were the first person that I loved.’ I said good luck to you and she said good luck to me, and I now know that she goes on my Instagram and sees me happy my kids and wife, she would be so proud.

‘She would be like, ‘I’m just so glad he’s OK.’ 

‘What was bad was when she came to the back of my mum’s garden, and me and her just sat in the back of the garden, I’m grieving and we spoke, and one of my mates who’s grown up with me who’s grown up around her was like, ‘This is f***ing weird it’s almost like you two haven’t left each other,’ because it was so normal to talk, it was so normal to chat.’

Since the split Alesha married dancer Azuka Ononye in 2017 and the pair share daughter Azura Sienna, seven, and Anaya Safiya, one. 

In 2017 Alesha revealed she ‘thought her life was over’ after her marriage broke down and she was dropped by her record label in the same ‘terrible year’.

At the time of her divorce Alesha told The Sun: ‘I didn’t eat for a few days. I just remember sitting on the floor in my house. 

‘You ask those questions: ‘Why? What have I done wrong?”

Alesha also spoke on ITV’s Life Stories in 2014 about feeling ‘lost and empty’ after what happened and did not eat for days after the betrayal.    

Harvey shares 12-year-old Angel with ex Javine, and four-year-old Persia with his second wife Ghamzeh Mahdizadeh – who he reportedly split from in 2016.

In 2019, Harvey welcomed son Koa, but has not publicly named his partner, although she features regularly on his Instagram page. 

Speaking on Celebrity Big Brother in 2012 the rapper said Alesha dealt with the fallout from the cheating situation ‘graciously’.
