Ronan Farrow’s ‘Catch and Kill’ audiobook performance features impressions, accents

Ronan Farrow shares movie star mom Mia’s flair for the dramatic, it would appear, as he’s creating a social media whirlwind for his audiobook performance of “Catch and Kill.”

The Pulitzer winner uses a number of voices in addition to his own to act out the book. He voices not only Harvey Weinstein but also the goons Weinstein sent to spy on him, and plays his own fiancé, Jon Lovett.

There’s also Farrow’s take on Ukrainian, Cockney and Aussie accents, plus various female voices. (Farrow explained to Variety: “I did work as an anime voice actor earlier in my career.”) While some on social media have mocked the move, at least one tweeter wrote that Farrow “deserves a goddamn Grammy for the reading.”

Farrow gives credit to his producers Lisa Cahn and Christine Farrell — and their hours of “fine-tuning performance and production.”

He added on Twitter: “We love audiobooks and wanted ‘Catch and Kill’ to stand on its own as a listening experience — like the print book does as a visual one with its illustrations.” Another tweeter asked if Lovett — who co-hosts “Pod Save America” — makes a cameo, only to be told: “Ronan does an impression, and it’s perfect.”
