Sex and the City: Where the child stars are now

What happened to Sex And The City’s ORIGINAL child stars? As the HBO series is rebooted with Lily, Rose and Brady reimagined as teens, MailOnline reveals where the former cast are now

  •  In the original series, Charlotte had two children, Lily and Rose, while Miranda had son Brady, all of whom have now been recast as teenagers for the reboot, And Just Like That…

Sex And The City fans went wild this week when the franchises’ child stars made their first appearance filming the highly anticipated HBO Max revival, And Just Like That…

The reboot follows the leading ladies Sarah Jessica Parker, Cynthia Nixon and Kristin Davis – reprising their roles as Carrie Bradshaw, Miranda Hobbes and Charlotte York – 17 years after the original series ended.  Kim Cattrall won’t be returning as Samantha Jones after a highly-publicised feud with SJP.

According to HBO producers, the drama will concentrate on the ‘even more complicated reality of life and friendship as the characters hit their 50s’.

In the original series, Charlotte had two children, Lily and Rose, while Miranda had son Brady, all of whom have now been recast as teenagers.

With none of the original stars reprising their roles for the reboot, MailOnline looks back at where the original cast are now, and who will be stepping into their shoes.

Twinning: In the Sex and the City films, Charlotte’s daughter Lily is played by twins Alexandra and Parker Fong who have stayed out of the spotlight as they focus on their schooling (pictured left in 2008 with Kristin and right in 2020)

In the Sex And The City series, Charlotte’s infertility struggles were a main storyline as she was shown trying hormone treatments and acupuncture while married to Trey MacDougal (Kyle MacLachlan) in season three.

After learning that she only has a 13 percent chance of falling pregnant and learning that Trey doesn’t want to have children, Charlotte is left devastated and breaks off her marriage.

In season five, the art dealer strikes up a relationship with her less-than-perfect, but good-hearted divorce lawyer, Harry Goldenblatt (Evan Handler), and the couple later marries after she converts to Judaism.

Congratulations! The twins, now 18, graduated from Livingston High School in New Jersey last month, with Parker set to study filmmaking at Tisch School Of The Arts (pictured: Parker in June)

Charlotte’s dreams of becoming a mother are dashed yet again in season six when she falls pregnant with Harry’s child, but tragically miscarries.

However, in the series finale, the couple’s hopes to become parents are fulfilled as they adopt a baby girl from China named Lily.

In the 2008 film and its 2010 sequel, Lily is played by twins Alexandra and Parker Fong who have stayed out of the spotlight in recent years as they focus on their schooling.

The pair also had a small feature in the 2014 movie St. Vincent – which also starred Bill Murray, Melissa McCarthy and Naomi Watts – with Alexandra taking on a titled role of Rachele, while Parker was an uncredited classmate.

Sweet: Alexandra and Parker enjoy a strong bond and have littered their Instagram accounts with sweet selfies together

Sweet: Lily proved to be a little scene stealer as she appeared in the Sex And The City movie alongside (L-R) Cynthia, Sarah Jessica Parker, Kristin and Kim Cattrall

Alexandra also took on a few solo projects, starring as a ballerina in the TV series All My Children in 2008, and playing the Girl at Midvale in the series Unforgettable in 201`.

Parker took on less projects playing just Little Girl #1 in the TV series One Life to Live in 2009 but has kept up an interest in films, working on several media projects at her high school.

Both she and sister Alexandra, now 18, graduated from Livingston High School in New Jersey last month, with Parker set to study filmmaking at Tisch School Of The Arts.

While the pair have not made reference to their roles in the Sex And The City franchise, they did show their appreciation for the series on their VSCO accounts.

The photo-sharing app that allows users to edit and publish their posts also has a section for sharing memes, with both Parker and Alexandra sharing pictures from the SATC series on their grid.

Two images showed Carrie Bradshaw on the phone with the quotes, ‘buy a Chanel and get over it’, and ‘I don’t have time for idiots’, while another showed the group musing, ‘men never think anything is their fault’.

The role of Lily has now been taken over by Cathy Ang, 25, a Chinese-Filipina actress and singer based in New York City.

While she is still new to the industry, she has landed a role playing Fei Fei in Netflix’s upcoming animated movie-musical Over the Moon! and was most recently seen in Maybe Happy Ending at Alliance Theatre.

Rose York-Goldenblatt – played by Liliana and Sabrina Pizzuto

Low-profile: Rose made an appearance at the end of the first movie and briefly in the sequel (left with Kristin) and was played by twins Liliana and Sabrina Pizzuto (pictured right in 2016)

Born to be on the stage: The pair have kept a low-profile since their role as babies, with the twins, now 12, seen in a brief YouTube audition clip filmed in 2016 as well as performing at their school concert

In the 2008 Sex and the City movie, Charlotte is shocked to learn she has fallen pregnant naturally despite her ongoing fertility issues and later welcomes daughter Rose.

Speaking about playing a pregnant woman, Kristin – who didn’t have children at the time – said: ‘(It was) complex. I didn’t want it to seem fake. The first day of my work, I was wearing the biggest baby bump. It’s the scene with Chris (Noth).

‘It was my very first day. It was my big scene. I was wearing that white Oscar De La Renta silk dress and I’ve never spilled so many things on my outfit. When you’re really pregnant, you have some time to get used to it but I was me one day and the very next day, I was literally out to here.

Leading lady: The role will now be taken on by Alexa Swinton, 12, best known for her role as Eva Rhoades in the Showtime series Billions. She can currently be seen in M. Night Shyamalan’s thriller feature film, Old

‘The wardrobe department was like, “what’s going on” and I said, “I can’t get used to it. How do people do this?” I’d bump into stuff. I’d have had a lot of bruises if that thing were real. It was hard. Even fake is hard’.

Rose made an appearance at the end of the first movie and briefly in the sequel, and was played by twins Liliana and Sabrina Pizzuto.

The pair have kept a low-profile since their role as babies, with the twins, now 12, seen in a brief YouTube audition clip filmed in 2016 as well as performing at their school concert.

The pair also landed a small role in Comedy Central show The Other Two in 2018, for which they were not credited.

The role will now be taken on by Alexa Swinton, 12, best known for her role as Eva Rhoades in the Showtime series Billions. She can currently be seen in M. Night Shyamalan’s thriller feature film, Old.

Brady Hobbes – played by Joseph Pupo

Sweet: Miranda’s son Brady was played by Joseph Pupo in the series – who also made appearances in both of the Sex and the City films but the actor has kept out of the spotlight since (pictured left in 2009 and right in 2016)

For career-driven laywer Miranda, children weren’t on the agenda, until she accidentally fell pregnant with on/off boyfriend Steve Brady (David Eigenberg).

The couple first meet in season two when Miranda is waiting for Carrie (Sarah Jessica Parker) at the bar where he works and end up having what Miranda believes will just be a one-night stand.

A relentless Steve pursues her, however, and the couple end up falling for each other but soon break up after rowing about the financial differences between them.

Family: For career-driven laywer Miranda, children weren’t on the agenda, until she accidentally fell pregnant with on/off boyfriend Steve Brady (David Eigenberg)

The couple remain friends, with Miranda sleeping with Steve after he’s left morose due to losing one of his testicles from cancer, which results in Miranda falling pregnant – much to her shock as she herself only has one functioning ovary.

BRADY HOBBES’ COMEBACK (SORT OF)

Hilarious: In 2016, Joseph did a spoof interview with The Battery Company

In 2016, Joseph did a spoof interview with The Battery Company.

The former actor was quizzed by hosts Jake Wilson and Sas Goldberg about all aspects of the show.

In the satirical video, Joseph admitted he has never watched the show because he ‘wasn’t interested’.

Asked if he identified as more of an Aidan or Mr Big, he simply replied, ‘what?’

Probed on any juicy details about filming Brady’s first birthday scene, Joseph responded with silence.

Detailing what was next for him, he quipped he’d be trying out for his school play, Oklahoma!

Eager: The former actor was quizzed by hosts Jake Wilson and Sas Goldberg

Miranda originally plans to have an abortion without telling Steve about the pregnancy but later changes her mind and the couple chose to co-parent as platonic partners.

However, at Brady’s first birthday party, the couple admit that they both have feelings for one another and end up reconciling, later marrying in the community gardens during season six.

Brady was played by Joseph Pupo in the series – who also made appearances in both of the Sex and the City films but the actor has kept out of the spotlight since until a 2016 interview with The Battery Company.

The comical interview was shot in jest, with the hosts Jake Wilson and Sas Goldberg beginning by probing him about the audition process, asking ‘was it rigorous? Were there call backs?’ to which a deadpan Joseph, responds: ‘I was like three months old…’

Undeterred they continued, ‘is it hard to go back and watch your old episodes? Is there anything you just can’t watch?’ As Joseph admitted, ‘I don’t watch it’, they probed, ‘anymore?’ to which Joseph shrugged, ‘just never did, wasn’t interested’.

As a result, Joseph was left baffled when asked ‘Aiden or Mr. Big,’ responding, ‘what?’

Talk then turned to Joseph’s very first scenes on the show when he was just a baby, with the hosts bringing up the fact the role was shared with another child.

‘What was it like between you and the other baby? As there was two and then just one… Do you guys still talk?’ they asked, as Joseph responded, ‘no’.

They responded, ‘do you remember his name?’ as Joseph mused, ‘no’.

The next subject on the table was Brady’s birthday party in season six, in which Miranda and Steve rekindled their romance, as they asked ‘tell us a bit more about that day?’ but were met with silence.

Clear they weren’t going to get much out of him about his on-screen parents, they turned their attention to Carrie Bradshaw, holding up a  Manolo Blahnik pump – her signature shoe – as they asked, ‘does this conjure up any memories for you?’ but were again met only with a grunt.

New face: Brady will be portrayed by Niall Cunningham, 23, in the upcoming reboot, an actor who had his breakout acting role playing Tyler in the CBS sitcom Life In Pieces in 2015

Sticking with the Carrie theme they asked, ‘were you upset you didn’t get to go to Paris?’ in reference to Carrie’s ill-fated trip with Aleksandr Petrovsky, to which Joseph seemed bemused.

In a final line of questioning, they asked: ‘what’s up next for you? What’s on your slate?’ as Joseph quipped: ‘I’m doing Oklahama for the school play’.

Brady will be portrayed by Niall Cunningham, 23, in the upcoming reboot, an actor who had his breakout acting role playing Tyler in the CBS sitcom Life In Pieces in 2015.

After graduating from the LaGuardia High School of the Arts, he began studying at Tufts University and co-founded his own entertainment company G45 Productions
