Circulate and Black Out The Ballot Come Together To Mark National Voter Registration Day

Ahead of what is being regarded as “the most important election of our lives,” Los Angeles’ Circulate is teaming up with Black Out The Ballot to mark National Voter Registration Day. Black Out the Ballot is a collective of creatives comprised of individuals assembled by Vizion Jones and Jen Bui who are committed to changing the infrastructure in disenfranchised communities to ensure racial equality, social justice, and financial empowerment.

Coming together on the “Registrar” T-Shirt, the duo looks to encourage more people to register and vote in the upcoming election that will dictate the next president, Supreme Court justices, local officials, climate change approaches and state of education.

Circulate founder, Corey Populus, note that the design of the shirt came to him while watching a documentary on the Black Panthers, more specifically a poster from Bobby Seales campaign for mayor that stood out to him. The “Registrar” T-Shirt features “EACH ONE REGISTER ONE” on the front and “BECOME A REGISTRAR” on the back. But most importantly, the front of the T-shirt features a QR code that can be scanned by a smartphone to launch registration to become a voter.

The Black Out The Ballot x Circulate Registrar T-Shirt is set to release September 22, 12 p.m. PST on Black Out The Ballot’s website. Additionally, Circulate will be donating its portion of proceeds back to Black Out The Ballot to help continue their mission of changing the infrastructure in disenfranchised communities to ensure racial equality, social justice, and financial empowerment.

We are so excited and blessed for this collaboration (more like gift) from @youngcorey @circulate dropping tomorrow, Tuesday, for National Voter Registration Day. This is the most important election of our lives. You are not just voting for a president. Supreme Court justices, local officials, climate change, our schools, our kids, our futures… this vote is for our survival. That’s straight up and real talk. In the words of @youngcorey @circulate “This years election I feel like is more important than ever. Im excited to announce our collaboration with Black Out The Ballot. Blackout the Ballot is a collective of creatives comprised of individuals assembled by Vizion Jones and Jen Bui who are committed to changing infrastructure in disenfranchised communities to ensure racial equality, social justice, and financial empowerment.  The inspiration on this graphic I found watching a documentary on the Black Panthers and there was a poster from Bobby Seales campaign while running for mayor that really stuck out to me. I wanted anyone wearing this shirt to become a Registrar. You can have anyone scan the QR code on the front of the shirt and get others to sign up right on the spot. All proceeds on behalf of Circulate will be reinvested in black out the ballots organization to help complete their mission and expand. These will be available at 12pm PST on blackouttheballot.com”
