I've flown 5,000 miles for a first date with a girl I've never met – it's reckless but we're both newly single

A SCOTTISH TikToker revealed how he flew thousands of miles to meet an American woman for a first date.

User paddycampbell685 joined the dating app Tinder after breaking up with his partner earlier this year.

On the app he matched with American Bridget Kelly, who had set her sights on finding a Scottish man using Tinder Passport.

The feature allows users to explore other cities virtually by pinning them on the map.

The pair hit it off and Patrick made the decision to fly across to America to meet Bridget, even attending a wedding with her.

He said in a TikTok: "Back in January of 2022 after Covid, I fell out with my partner at that time – long story into that one – but I moved on after that and joined Tinder which is one thing I've never used before and I've never snapchatted in my life at 32 years old.

"So I joined Tinder and a couple of months later I got a message from somebody I thought was very bonnie, very pretty.

"I was talking to her and I swear she looked like she was from Edinburgh which really confused me but she wasn't – turned out she was from America – 4,700 miles away in Wisconsin in a place called New Glarus."

Patrick flew from from Glasgow to Dublin on May 16 and waited 14 hours before getting on a flight to Chicago and finally to Bridget's hometown.

He shared how he was nervous as he wasn't sure "how the Yanks are going to act."
