Meghan Markle and Prince Harry latest news: Duchess eyes £38m movie comeback and she is 'glad to be home' in America

MEGHAN MARKLE could be set to return to acting following the Sussexes' move to Los Angeles.

And it may be quite a profitable one with the former Suits actress potentially pocketing up to £38m.

The ex-royal couple will be more than happy to pull in that kind of money after moving into their new £11m mansion.

But Meghan is happy to be back stateside, revealing it's "good to be home" in America after spending time in the UK with Prince Harry.

The Sussexes moved to Canada before heading for Los Angeles prior to the coronavirus pandemic with their son Archie.

But Meghan told at The 19th Represents Summit via a video call that "it was just so sad to see where [America] was in that moment" upon returning.

"To come back and see the state of affairs at the onset if I'm honest it was just devastating."

  • MEGHAN'S EX-HUSBAND'S FAMILY BLAST 'RUBBISH' CLAIMS IN NEW BOOK

THE family of Meghan Markle's ex-husband say the accusations made in explosive book Finding Freedom are “rubbish”.

Meghan's first husband, Hollywood producer Trevor Engelson, 43, is mentioned in the book, with Meghan, 39, reportedly asking her friends why “Trevor didn't always act as if he supported her acting career”.

The same friend said the dynamic between the two changed once Meghan landed a role as paralegal Rachel on TV show Suits.

“Suddenly the dynamic was changing, and he didn't like that,” the friend said.

Trevor reportedly wanted Meghan to to rely on him as the “breadwinner”, and wondered if he “didn't want to share the spotlight”.

Engleson's uncle Mickey-Miles Felton, who lives in Arizona, said the description of Trevor in the book is “not even close to who he is”.

He told the Daily Mail: “I think the word you use in England for this claim would be 'rubbish'. We would say 'trash'.”

  • TYCOON WHO BUILT MEGHAN & HARRY'S £11 MILLION MANSION WARNS OF EXPENSIVE RUNNING COSTS

THE tycoon who built Harry and Meghan’s £11million new home has issued a warning about mudslides and expensive running costs.

Multi-millionaire businessman Terry Cunningham, 61, bought the 5.4 acres of “spectacular” land with his wife Randi in exclusive Montecito in 1999 and spent four years building the 14,463 sq ft property called The Chateau of Riven Rock.

Speaking to the Mail on Sunday, he warned mudslides, triggered by heavy rain after the surrounding hills had been hit by wildfires, came within 200ft of the property in 2018.

He said: “We sure as hell didn't think about it [the mudslides] when we were building but certainly it's something I would be thinking about now.”

The Mail on Sunday estimates Harry and Meghan will need several million pounds a year just in running costs as well as pay off the money for the refurbishment of Frogmore Cottage.

It has been claimed Meghan and Prince Harry bought their Santa Barbara mansion specially because it is close to Hollywood.

The couple will need to bring home the money after they are said to have taken out a £7.25million mortgage on the home.

InterTalent chairman Professor Jonathan Shalit OBE said: “Whatever role she does everyone is going to want to see her. We are talking a $50million [£38m] fee. People are going to be fascinated to see her perform at the very start.”

Prince Harry was joined in the call by Invictus Games medallist JJ Chalmers, as well as Bruno Guevremont, Mark Reidy and Jen Warren.

The Duke discussed the importance of having an online community to help everyone keep in touch with one another, in the 10-minute chat.

Harry said: “It's so important to know that if you're going to have a bad day, if you've had a bad week, or you've experienced more trauma or another loss, or more stress in your life that you've got at your fingertips, whether it's a WhatsApp group, whether it's an online support group or whatever it is, or whether it's just the Invictus community, you've always got one, well not even one, you've got at least a handful of people that you can reach out to.”

  • MEGHAN PULLED OUT OF PIPPA MIDDLETON'S WEDDING SO SHE DIDN'T 'OVERSHADOW HER'

Meghan pulled out of Pippa Middleton's wedding at the last minute as she didn't want to overshadow Kate's sister, a bombshell biography has claimed.

The bride had reluctantly invited the Duchess of Sussex to her big day in May 2017 – with Finding Freedom claiming she “privately harboured concerns that the American actress’s presence alongside Harry might overshadow the main event”.

However the 36-year-old invited Prince Harry's then-girlfriend – with Meghan reported to be determined “not to make a misstep”.

The duchess then worked with best pal stylist Jessica Mulroney to design the perfect outfit that would be “stylish without being splashy”.

But Meghan made the decision not to attend the ceremony at St Mark's Church, at Englefield Estate, Berkshire after a Sun story.

The article compared Meghan and Pippa with the headline: “It’s Meghan v Pippa in the…Wedding of the Rears”.

In the poignant chat, Meghan appeared to be sitting in one of the rooms of her new nine-bedroom and 16-bathroom mansion in upscale Montecito, Santa Barbara.

The mum-of-one spoke to The 19th* co-founder and CEO Emily Ramshaw and in the background, Meghan’s room looked very stylish indeed.

The room looked bright and airy thanks to white-painted walls and a large four-panelled window.

Meghan was sitting in a vintage-looking, cream armchair which had mahogany-style wood framing.

  • PRINCE HARRY'S BEST MAN SPEECH MAKE KATE 'SHED A TEAR' ON HER WEDDING DAY

Harry made Kate Middleton "shed a tear" on her wedding day, according to a royal author.

The Duchess of Cambridge, 38, was moved to tears by Harry's best man speech for his brother William, who tied the knot in April 2011, the book claims.

Katie Nicholl's 2017 biography Harry: Life, Loss, and Love gave a glimpse into the Cambridge's wedding reception.

In this book, she said of the speech: “It was affectionate, warm and funny and touched William deeply.

“When he said the couple’s decade-long romance was his inspiration, there was a shy smile from Chelsy, while Kate shed a tear.”

  • HARRY FELT LIKE THE ROYAL FAMILY NEVER SUPPORTED HIM, IT HAS BEEN CLAIMED

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex were left frustrated when conversations with the Palace didn't "lead anywhere".

It's yet another bombshell claim about the couple's lives in the Royal Family, and what made them make the drastic decision to quit.

In the unauthorised biography Finding Freedom, it was claimed Harry wanted to feel supported by the Royal Family.

But a source told authors Omid Scobie and Carolyn Durand that Harry felt “there were so many occasions” when the Royal Family “could have helped them, stood up for them, backed them up, and never did”.

  • MEGHAN WORE A 'REVENGE' WARDROBE FOR HER FINAL OUTINGS

The Duchess of Sussex, 39, captivated royal fans with a breathtaking wardrobe worth £26,400 for her final five-day visit.

Vanity Fair called her wardrobe at the time a “masterclass in revenge dressing”, and compared her looks to Princess Diana’s infamous little black dress the night Prince Charles did his bombshell interview about Camilla.

Now authors Omid Scobie and Carolyn Durand have shared in their Finding Freedom biography how Meghan’s outfits were carefully selected.

They wrote how Meghan’s make-up artist and close pal Daniel Martin had joked she should “go out with a bang” during her final week as a working senior royal.

  • MEGHAN AND HARRY NEED TO 'START MAKING MONEY QUICKLY' TO PAY OFF BILLS OF MORE THAN £500K A YEAR

They paid a deposit of £3.8million to City National Bank leaving a £7.4million mortgage over 30 years at £34,750 a month — or a huge £417,000 a year.

The Sussexes would have had to convince the lender they had the funds for repayment, despite neither having a steady wage.

They also face a £52,000-a-year property tax for homes worth £7.64million-plus in Santa Barbara.

  • HARRY AND MEGHAN PHONED FAN CONNECTED TO TWITTER ACCOUNT THAT BUSED ROYALS TO THANK THEM FOR SUPPORT

Harry and Meghan phoned a fan connected to a Twitter account that posted vile abuse about Kate, Wills and the Royal Family to thank her for “enthusiastic support”.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex told the woman that they were “so moved and so happy” after she helped raise around £45,000 for charities they support.

But we can reveal the fundraiser — named as Dani Trin — also uses a Twitter account which has previously posted a string of vile tweets branding the Duchess of Cambridge a “b***h” and a “Karen” and her husband Prince William an “a**hole”.

Trin says she was not responsible for the offensive posts.

Only days before Harry, 35, and Meghan, 39, made their gushing phone call, the Henryscousin account also used by Trin accused the Royal Family of being “nasty, pedophilic, racist”.

  • MEGHAN WAS 'DEVASTATED' BY STATE OF AMERICA WHEN SHE RETURNED

MEGHAN Markle admitted she was “devastated” by the “state of affairs” when she returned to the US, in a virtual summit.

Speaking to The 19th’s co-founder and CEO, she said: “To come back and see the state of affairs at the onset if I'm honest it was just devastating.

“It was just so sad to see where [America] was in that moment.”

The actress was referring to the weeks of turmoil and rising racial tensions following the killing of several black Americans, including George Floyd, by white police officers.

But she continued that following peaceful protests and the rise of the Black Lives Matter movement, it was “good to see people owning their role” and understanding the part they play “either actively or passively in the discrimination of other people, specifically the black community”.

Meghan added her original despair shifted to “absolute inspiration” as the tide turned.

In an interview with The 19th – which describes itself as a nonprofit, nonpartisan newsroom reporting on gender, politics and policy – Meghan told how her return to the US initially felt “just devastating” after she saw the “state of affairs” in the US.

She said: “To come back and see the state of affairs at the onset if I'm honest it was just devastating.

“It was just so sad to see where [America] was in that moment.  I look forward to … using my voice in a way I haven't been able to of late.”

Writing in Finding Freedom, the authors said of Meghan and Prince Harry: “They enjoyed a lot of the same activities, such as traveling and fitness.

“Although Meghan, the type of girl to grab a smoothie after a hot yoga or Pilates session, pushed Harry to up his game.”

As for the former actress' eating habits, they added: “Her morning ritual started with a cup of hot water and a slice of lemon, followed by her favourite breakfast of steel-cut oats (usually made with almond or soy milk) with bananas and agave syrup for sweetness.

“For snacks in between meals, she opted for apple slices and peanut butter. It was a far cry from Harry's bachelor days of eating takeout pizza, but he had already taken an interest in healthy living and it was fun to do it together.”

  • MEGHAN ATTACKS 'TOXICITY' OF MEDIA AFTER 'PERSONAL EXPERIENCE'

MEGHAN Markle attacked the “toxicity” of the media as she spoke from her own “personal experience” during a virtual summit.

The Duchess of Sussex hit out at “salacious” journalism and said reporting should be done through a “compassionate and empathetic lens” following her return to the States with Prince Harry and son Archie.

She told The 19th Represents Summit via videochat: “What's so fascinating, at least from my standpoint and my personal experience in the past couple years, is the headline alone, the clickbait alone, makes an imprint,” she said.

“There is so much toxicity out there in what is being referred to as, my husband and I talk about it often, this to the economy for attention. That is what is monetisable right now.

“So if you're just trying to grab someone's attention, you're going for something salacious versus what is truthful.”

Other posts over the past year made sick jokes about Kate being an “anorexic wrinkly hoe”, a “corner plant” and repeatedly called her “Karen”.

The pair "should not be lining the pockets" of the Russian "Scarface Oligarch” they bought their $14 million mansion from after he allegedly launched a three-year “campaign of terror” against two women, one of his accusers has claimed.

Jennifer Sulkess, 32, is currently embroiled in a bitter legal battle with Sergey Grishin who she accuses in court papers seen by The Sun of sending “numerous death threats” to her friend and his ex wife Anna Fedoseeva, “attempting to kill” Anna, 38, and hiring a “hit man” to target them.

The Sussexes recently bought a nine bedroom, 16 bathroom lavish mansion from controversial Grishin, 56, who has also been accused in lawsuits of threatening to chop up Anna “piece by piece” and making a “false police report” against her, causing her to be imprisoned for 10 days before she was released without charge.

According to the new royal biography Finding Freedom, “Meghan never considered giving birth at St. Mary's Hospital in London, where Kate delivered all three of her children.”

And instead, authors of the book, Omid Scobie and Carolyn Durrand, reveal the Duchess of Sussex wanted to deliver somewhere “more discreet,” and choose London's Portland Hospital.

  • MEGHAN AND HARRY'S NEW HOME IS LINKED TO BUSINESSMAN ACCUSED OF $20M SCAM

The cut-price mansion purchase is linked to three mysterious businessmen, once accused in court papers of a $20m insurance fraud, The Sun can reveal.

The couple reportedly bought the $14m nine bed home in Montecito, California, six weeks ago from Russian Sergey Grishin – dubbed the ‘Scarface Oligarch’ because he bought the mansion from the movie – who has been accused of defrauding a bank of billions and of threatening his ex-wife, allegations he denies.

The 54-year-old Grishin old was also sued for allegedly trying to gain a $20m life insurance policy through false statements.

Fellow Russian Tim Pinkevich and Israeli national Dovi Frances were also identified in court papers.

However, the case was later dismissed and the three men denied all allegations of misconduct.

The 39-year-old, who is currently living in LA with husband Prince Harry, revealed to Marie Claire in a rare interview: “I know what it's like to have a voice, and also what it's like to feel voiceless.

“I also know that so many men and women have put their lives on the line for us to be heard.”

She said: “I had $20 in my bank account. There was this audition for this film and the director said, ‘You know I think you’re really something, but if you want to get the part you should bring me some cheesecake’.

“And I was like, ‘I’m sorry?’ So I spent my last money on this cheesecake and I didn’t get the part.”
